count, then a pullback to 1300 rigs or a 15% decline from current level of 1518 rigs
would not be a huge surprise. Of the 200 rigs that would be sidelined, a split of 45% oil
and 55% gas rigs removed from the count seems plausible."

Yep, the very same government stooges that designed the 1990 OPA so that it would not happen again, ever ... and it did happen again. I'm shocked I tell you, I thought big nanny was watching the store, tending to keeping fire booms at the ready and inspecting every step of the drill process. Personally, with the way the states are stepping up to demand their rights to self determination, I expect some to start inviting oil companies to drill and the feds be damned.

Only problem is the Feds 'own' over half the land (and mineral rights) west of the Mississippi, and they aren't going to give it up without a fight.

Obozo's bunch shutting down federal drilling leases (on land) so the EPA could 'evaluate greenhouse gas emissions' (when the climate is cooling) just deprives the public coffers of revenue from royalties.
