If Obama had jumped into the middle of BP efforts immediately, would he have been accused of typical socialist type interference with free capitalism? That's like saying Company X started a forest fire and then saying lets hold off sending the fire department so that Company X can put out the fire themselves. If it was only Company X's property being damaged that would be one thing, but when the fire is destroying other peoples property it absolutely is a government obligation to do something about it.
When oil was spewing out totally uncontrolled BP lost control of the situation. In addition the damage now being done is to other peoples property far beyond BP’s work site. That is exactly when government should step in and take control.
