Um...someone very close to me... just purchased a 1950 production, New in Box 1911. Serial number 243xxxC. SN matches the the SN on the original maroon Colt box, pistol still caked in cosmoline. =) In 99%+ condition with the only flaw being a VERY small bit of box wear on a small spot on the slide, where it should be flat, but has a bit of sheen. Hardly even noticeable. The bluing is a deep black. All original. Took a while to inspect it as the wax paper had worn into the back strap grooves (and sights) and nearly looked like holster wear...but NOPE, just paper and a bit of wax. Original paperwork and brush intact. Original paperwork has '50 print date on lower left corner. Beautiful piece of history.

Still doing a bit of research to confirm, but, one source claims that this SN was included in a production run that was originally issued to the CT National Guard.

Hope to hand this currently 60 year old treasure down in the same condition to a family member some day. But today is NOT that day. And tomorrow doesn't look good either (Lord willing).

p.s. Good news...the seller may have a couple more left, as he bought a large lot of them, some with issued holster wear, some NIB with matching SN box, some with more use, but still in overall good condition and original parts.

Okay, Newbie question: What are the major differences between the M1911 A1 and the Browning High Power?

Is it mainly ergonomics?

(Nice Pics BTW)

Vaquero, I recognize the 1911, the Ruger Vaquero (nice namesake), the Luger, the Browning Hi Power, and the Beretta, but what is the pistol in the lower left?
