I dislike Obama as much as anyone, but what can the federal government do? Does anyone work for the government that knows more about offshore drilling than BP? Personally, I think we need to stoke this fire and prove government is the problem, not the solution.
Let the gov'ts get off their butts to protect the shoreline.
Alas, the careerists standing on his shoulders really can't afford to allow him or her to be put to work on fixing things.
The appointees on top of those careerists have previously identified this young GS 13/14 as a quite useful person to use in the preparation of their next PowerPoint presentations, so they certainly don't want him or her being reassigned to something "new" else they'd be left speechless.
The Gulf Coast is doomed!
Day one BP admitted that the Feds have the equipment to survey and deal with this crisis. Since then the Feds have insisted that the solution rests squarely in BP's hands.
We have the largest and most sophisticated navy in the world, capable of working at extreme depths with massive enterprises.
Obama's response has been to allow this crisis to worsen for his own political advantage. This tactic will blow up in his face.
I have been nisisting that this spill will not amount to a hill of beans. I did not consider the administration's conspiratorial interest in making it as bad as possible.
BTTT
Well, what compounds the problem is the fact that Obama does not HAVE ANYONE in any advisory positions who has any real life experience......all academics, they are great with “thinking” about stuff but not so good with applying any of this “expertise” in the real world.
IMHO, and I am not an expert, but I would have left BP to deal with the gusher itself and used local resources to prevent the oil getting to shore. Instead, there are literally hundreds of people waiting on decisions by the federal government before they can proceed.
