They showed it live...kinda hard to ‘edit’ that, unless the editing came later in other coverage of it, in which case it would seem to me that they are at liberty to edit it however they want, aren’t they?

It all depends on the AUDIENCE microphones and whether or not they are up. Those mics may have been turned down to cut down on extraneous sound.

That was a pitiful applause. Even if you dislike Obama, you would think that it would have gotten a much more vigorous response. You get the idea that the only ones that clapped were the flag officers, not wanting to do anything to hurt their chances for another star, were forced to clap. The military must despise Obama.

I mentioned that it only sounded like about 20 people applauding him. they showed a stadium full of people but you could’t hear much applause...... I wondered about it.
