Moms Opts for Adbirds over Craigslist: Safe, Friendly, Fast & Green

It's hard to imagine the pre-Craigslist days. Can you even remember how you sold a slightly used bicycle or a stroller or a car? Nowadays you have some options when it comes to selling your old treasures online and if you haven't tried Adbirds yet, you need to give the site a test-drive.

Adbirds is similar to Craigslist, but I'd say it's more safe, sophisticated and mommy-friendly. Sure, if you sell on Craigslist, you get in front of a lot of eyes instantly, but sometimes it's too many. Let’s say I’m trying to sell a baby stroller. By the time I get my ad posted, 20 more stroller are already ahead of mine in less than 24 hours. I have to keep reposting if I want mine to stay above the fold. It's a little bit annoying.

Adbirds has a fast and easy interface, so you have the ability to create a pretty ad with images or video clips and then you can do other stuff, like promote your favorite charity. Seriously -- it's very community friendly. For moms who are involved in affiliate programs, you need to check out Adbirds. They have an extremely competitive program with various perks.

Adbirds is also eco-conscious as the company is all about local shopping, community and saving everyone gas. Think of it as more money in your pocket for diapers, formula and wipes! The company tagline is “Better Online Advertising” and they speak the truth.

Want a different perspective? I just saw another person blogging about shopping for bikes on Adbirds. You can read that blog post here. (Great info if you're a bike enthusiast!)

Drop me a comment if you’ve already discovered Adbirds and let me know what you think. I’m an instant fan and excited to learn more. ... post an ad and see for yourself!

Saving fuel saves the green-backs in your wallet too.

me too. How in the hell is posting something online on one website any more green than another website. I will have to assume that we all must insert the word green into any sentence we utter in order to draw attenetion and be PC.

“But officer, I was only being GREEN by not having to stop at the red light thus having my car idle resulting in 0 MPG”

Nothing wrong with being "green". I consider myself green, primarily because it SAVES ME MONEY! You can be green without being an enviroweenie.

Here is some "green" I do, which saves me money!

1 - I have used CFL's since before most knew what they were. Use them where appropriate (hallways, outdoor lighting, bulbs that are difficult to reach and change).

2 - Fuel efficient car! Speaks for itself. You dont have to go too small..

3 - Campaign for Nuclear Energy. Its good for the USA in general, its "greeness" is just a bonus.

4 - Buy or get for free, used stuff at garage sales and/or the internet. Amazing bargains can be had. I find lots of stuff in great shape, for FREE sometimes (I got a hardly used $700 treadmill for free, person lived in a top floor apartment and just wanted to get rid of it). If you absolutely don't need it NEW, you can do very well buying used. This is considered being "green" because it is a form of recyling.

5 - Use recycled building materials. Someone charged me $100 in order to take apart his deck and take the wood. 25% of the wood was rotted or useless, but I was able to get at least $1000 dollars worth of good wood (it was a huge deck that covered his entire, huge patio). By saving trees, I was able to save alot of money.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking that being "green" necessarily means being a leftist. Sure, most of the ones that brag about it are, but there are plenty of us conservatives out there, doing our part too, to our benefit!

The adbirds site is developed by a conservative who came up with a new distance / fuel cost calculator to help people find what they want closer to home and office.

The result will be a better way to shop, saving fuel time and money. If all Americans could save fuel time and money, pretty soon a pint or quart of fuel at a time will mean the smog goes down and savings go up. Are we greener for advertising on that site versus craigslist? A little.

I happen to like the idea. That does not make me a lefty.
