I don’t publicly announce it, but I believe her reasons for leaving were less than auspicious. It’s not business to question her, but a medical discharge for a woman who’s in better shape than most men I know is garbage.

So why do you think the Swedish sub isn’t as detectable as any other sub of similar size and shape using an active sonar system?

even my cousin who was recently discharge from the USAF was more concerned about her Facebook postings than her duties as an MP.

Pregnant by chance you think?

No, not at all! I’m very close with her, and she’s always been very chaste. She may have had legitimate medical issues with her back, but methinks her issue was the time away from home and friends. We’re a very tight knit family, and her being in Afghanistan for 8 - 11 months was very difficult on the family overall.

The phrase “don’t believe everything you read” is a common idiomatic expression which doesn’t make any implication about the person it is directed to. Don’t you see that sometimes news reports are incorrect, or perhaps intended to convey false information to opponents? Do you remember the many articles about how the Glomar Explorer was going looking for manganese nodules?

That makes sense.

You know, that is why the original rule for the military was that only officers could be married.

I wish I was as healthy as a teen as I am now. I was very overweight coming out of high school but desperately wanted to be a Marine. I would still gladly go into the service, but I’m still over the weight proscribed by all branches. I feel, perhaps, that I am better off being a loud proponent of conservative ideology and use my knowledge and education for the betterment of our country. I suppose only time will tell.

In this case, I am the person who wrote the article, so I do know for a fact it’s true. When I found the video and watched it, I first thought it was bogus. However I looked into it and double checked my facts before I ever wrote the article and posted the video.

You see, Secretary Gates, this is why we have eleven carrier battle groups.

Everyone should keep in mind several things

1) This is a new class of submarine using a new type of propulsion system. It is not detectable via our sonar. That doesn’t mean our men and women in uniform are suddenly slacking off on their jobs. It’s a technology issue, the adversary has evolved and so must our counter measures.

2) In 2004 The US Navy leased one of these subs and it’s crew from Sweden for 2 years so they could war game against it,study it and develop effective counter measures. They gave it back to Sweden in 2007.

3) When the source story mentions the success this sub has had against our navy, it was during the 2004-2007 time frame that we had it leased from Sweden. This isn’t something that happened last week.

You are oh so correct. Aa minor technicality that I am sure Obama will soon reduce to a much more manageable size. After all, we would not want to come off as being too aggressive towards the rest of the world.

So I am sure that right after our benevolent dictator for life will reduce our nuclear arsenal to a smaller number then Russia's, he will begin mothballing or even selling off a few carriers to some more worthy nations like.... oh let's say Iran ot Venezuela.

A worthy mission that needs to be done because the MSM has been woefully negligence in their job as the fourth estate. They are no more than Pravda of the left anymore.

The reason for my comment, in case you missed it:

Gates suggests big changes coming for Navy

"Do we really need 11 carrier strike groups for another 30 years when no other country has more than one?" Gates asked.

The real answer to your question goes into classified info. I don’t have to think. I lived the life at greater than 400 feet sitting at a sonar system tracking contacts. I am a qualified Submarine Sonar Supervisor.

It’s a technology issue, the adversary has evolved and so must our counter measures.

Regardless whether the navy dealt with this a few years ago or not, what this video proves is how we need to change the way we do things in the military, especially the Navy. After all the US Navy is the largest navy in the world, and on paper, certainly the most powerful. It is also unmistakably the most expensive navy the world has ever seen. Of that there is no doubt.

Now that the Russian navy is all but gone, and the Chinese Navy still ascending, the American Navy remains the dominant sea power in the world. Yet, as this video proves, our heavyweight navy often has great difficulty handling the little guys. Indeed, if the US Navy were a boxer, one might say that his dominance is due mostly to his sheer size because he punches well below his massive weight. In this era of asymmetrical warfare, of David versus Goliath conflicts, perhaps it is time for America to rethink its naval strategy, lose some weight, and as sports announcers say, "focus more on the fundamentals."

For all the money America spends on its huge navy, it really needs to be much better. Edmund Burke once said, "A nation without the means of reform is without the means of survival." So, too, I would add, is a navy.
