He is not a lightweight. This is all by design. He is a Saudi employee and they make $500 billion in profit off the USA or more. They do not want us to have a domestic energy industry. Bin Laden was an agent of the Muslim Brotherhood. Al Qeada is a fiction to cover up the real players.

When Obama bows to world leaders, including enemies, he has a “KICK ME” sticker on his a$$.

I was thinking more along the lines of an environmental group because they don’t want us drilling anywhere either. I wouldn’t put it past Greenpeace because they’re saying this explosion better take offshore drilling off Obama’s energy list.

It looks like an attack to me. IT takes alot of energy to cause an explosion like that.

This is interesting .. I just posted the following over on another thread:

This whole oil rig thing smells to high heaven! There just seems to be too much “coincidence”; and I don’t believe in coincidence.

I think the reason it bothers me is that too many things were going on at the same time .. making this “coincidence” waaaaaaay too convenient.

These are the pieces of the puzzle that I put together.

1st - the dems are plotting to unleash upon America a cap and tax plan (but it’s not gaining in approval);

2nd - the dems want to do whatever they can to stop America from drilling their own oil (because that would create millions of jobs, spur the economy, and ensure energy independence for lots of years);

3rd - although Obama was allowing drilling (but not in the best areas), the oil industry was calling him on it;

4th - it just happened to be a day or so one side of “Earth Day”;

5th - to solve all those problems (”Never let a good crisis go to waste.”) - what could be better than a good oil spill - like maybe blowing up an oil rig ..?? Huh ..?? That would solve everything .. RIGHT ..??

Now, NO MORE OIL DRILLING; CAP AND TAX WILL BE EASY TO PASS; PEOPLE WERE PAYING ATTENTION BECAUSE OF EARTH DAY, and I just can’t believe for one minute that this was an “accident” or just a coincidence.

The real cap .. the President sent SWAT to guard all the oil rigs .. WHY WOULD HE DO THAT IF IT WAS AN “ACCIDENT”. But .. if the oil rig was blown up .. then they better inspect all the other oil wells to find out if they are ready to blow up too ..?? Huh ..?? Or is SWAT there to find any evidence .. which the Admin can then hide ..??

The real big question I have is this: WHO BLEW IT UP ..??

And remember .. just a couple of days ago there was a thread where we were discussing the Weather Underground and their statements about 25,000,000 being a casuality risk they were willing to take .. Hmmmmm ..?? Did they believe killing over 100 on the oil rig was acceptable in order to accomplish their goal ..??

Interestingly .. there is a 6th factor: Who do the dems hate almost as much as Bush - Halliburton! It turns out Halliburton is somehow involved in the construction of the oil rig. Hmmmm ..?? Coincidence ..?? I don’t think so.

I don't have enough facts to know what caused this or even form an opinion yet. But I have known for along time that the rigs and platforms in the gulf (as well as the North Sea and other areas) present great targets of opportunity for whoever might want to take them out..

The only part of this scenario that reads wrong:

To the reason for North Korea attacking the Deepwater Horizon, these reports say, was to present US President Obama with an "impossible dilemma" prior to the opening of the United Nations Review Conference of the Parties to the Treat on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) set to begin May 3rd in New York.

Um, nope. Obama is THRILLED by this event. It gives him ammo against "drill here, drill now" Palin. It also gives him support for his energy bill ala Rahm "don't waste a crisis" Emanuel's paradigm.

The only question I have is this: was Obama actually involved, or did our enemy North Korea (or some jihadist state) do this on their own to strengthen Obama's and the Democrat party's domestic hand? After all, it is VERY much in their interest to have Obama and the Democrats running things here because they are weak with respect to America's enemies.

Sorry if that sounds tinfoilly, but can any of you really find a weakness in the arguement from an international perspective?

Internet hyperventilation aside, does anyone seriously believe the norks could pull this off in the gulf of freakin’ Mexico? The Gulf of Tonkin, maybe, but the Gulf of Mexico? Really?

Iran is increasing its paramilitary Qods force operatives in Venezuela while covertly continuing supplies of weapons and explosives to Taliban and other insurgents in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to the Pentagon’s first report to Congress on Tehran’s military.

“If U.S. involvement in conflict in these regions deepens, contact with the IRGC-QF, directly or through extremist groups it supports, will be more frequent and consequential,” the report says.

The report provides the first warning in an official U.S. government report about Iranian paramilitary activities in the Western Hemisphere. It also highlights links between Iran and the anti-U.S. government of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, who has been accused of backing Marxist terrorists in Colombia.

Worked in the oil industry for 30 years.
I can see several things going to crap that would cause this to happen. It would require people failure and/or equipment failure, have see such on a smaller scale and it was controlled......most of the time. The power of high pressures (5000 to 15,000 lbs) pushing light crude will cause quite a flame at the surface. Bad-assed coincidences do happen in this world, this is probably one.
However, with things as they are, I can not rule out sabotage completely.
As to what went wrong, it will eventually make its' way through the politicians and lawyers to the oilfield knowledgeable folks. If something stinks, it will be found out.
Don't forget there are 100 guys who survived and will be talking eventually.

Did North Korea torpedo the oil rig? The fact that the Justice Department is sending SWAT teams (used for hostage-type situations) tells me that it’s unlikely that this was the accident we’re being told it was.

Some of the links on this site look a little — shall we say — odd, but this looks like it might be on to something. Was it sabotage? If it was, the government will never tell us.

Michael Savage was discussing the possibility of sabotage tonight and he had callers who worked in the industry who said the ship had seven (7!) layers of redunadant security. Taht they could hve all failed is such a longshot as to make it unbelievable. Check http://www.michaelsavage.com for his link on this topic.

I love conspiracy theories but after 27 years in the offshore oil industry, I just dont buy this one.

The rig crew had cemented the casing and displaced to a light fluid to pressure test and thereby losing a barrier.

They had a channel in the cement and it came back at them. They tried to shut the BOP and they had a running tool which wouldnt shear over the shear ram. If they could have shut the BOP it would have been a standard procedure to kill the well and bleed off the gas.

A similar incident occurred in the north sea some years ago but they were lucky and had no explosion.

It was just plain unlucky and statistically something that occurs in our industry every so many years just like a helicopter crash.

Incidents or accidents on rigs often involve human error or defective equipment. It could have been a combo of the two here. I dont believe it was a death wish on the part of the driller or sabotage.

Mark Levin had a guy call in tonight that was on the rig.

They had a “kick”, or Gas bubble that came up the stack and was ignited some how.
