Windows Vista Error Code 8000FFFF

Posted on 04/29/2010 4:55:21 AM PDT by hsmomx3

When my computer attempts updates, I get the Error Code 8000FFFF.

It means that registry values are blocking all updates.

There is a Fix It link for this but I am so skeptical because I do not understand how to correct such problems.

If you have had this problem and have downloaded the fix for this, can you let me know if it fixes this on its own?

hsmomx3, DO NOT format your hard drive unless you are prepared to lose all your data.

Unfortunately, the user would be out of luck with installing OSX...

I understand there are hacks out there...

I tried to make the following a post, but ran into "cannot connectio to webpage" error thingy again. Posted to you because you look so techie!

I'm on Vista (it's all I got right now!) and all of a sudden, Windows cannot update. I get error code 80072efe. Microsoft Security Essentials cannot update either. While trying to find help I found that sometimes I cannot get to a microsoft or windows page...says no internet connection (when connection is fine). Now I'm starting to get ad pages like my browser is being hijacked.

I know enough about computers to know I don't know enough about computers and I need help with this mess!

I don’t use Windows, so I cannot help with this issue. However, I have pinged the list, so hopefully someone on it *can* help.

I changed myself from admin to regular user or whatever it was called and now I am unable to change back to admin. It asks me for a password and when I attempted to put one in, it said it was a bad password.

If you never put in a password in the first place then leave the password line blank and hit enter.

quick download and save to flash www.malwarebytes.com from another pc - run back to bad pc and run it from the flash drive.

try and get the updates for malwarebytes right away. don;t open any internet pages.

then reboot into safe mode (hold down F8 or f12) and run malwarebytes. you gots a spyware, my friend...

on reboot make sure your Microsoft security essentials can update - and then get all your critical windows updates!
