Not long ago, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) President Andy Stern abruptly resigned from his powerful position and we still aren't sure why. But as he headed for the exit, Stern recommended his long-time confidante and current SEIU Secretary-Treasurer, Anna Burger, to be his replacement. But shockingly it is beginning to look as if Stern's druthers will not win the day.
Andy Stern has been one of the most powerful union leaders in America for a long time. Along with Burger, Stern was one of the most frequent visitors to Barack Obama's White House, he's spent years gobbling up smaller unions and placing them under the thumb of the SEIU with the result that his union has grown exponentially, and he's succeeded in insinuating his union into the bowels of just about every state and local government office in the country. He's wielded the power of multi-million dollar political campaign donation funds and has been involved at the highest level in U.S. labor policy. He was even named to Barack Obama's Deficit Reduction Commission tasked with finding out ways to restructure federal budgeting.
I have my suspicions as to why he's so suddenly stepped down (I spoke about those suspicions here) but what is beyond doubt is that Andy Stern has held in his hands an awful lot of power as the head of the SEIU. So it is a bit shocking to learn that his handpicked replacement might not be the shoo-in that might otherwise have been imagined...

I hope this all is taken seriously and we get rid of the rats, including King Rat.
By now we all might realize that no one audits anything. Thus stealing is rampant. How else to explain the condition of things that were to be built, repaired, projects began etc. Ad Nauseam. There is no excuse for the billions of dollars gone ...that we see little or no improvement for the billions having so called been spent on improving these areas for years..
IE. Education. Every level. Department of Energy. ditto Transportation, Homeland Security, Environmental Protection Agency,, and on and on.
God help us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.
From the title, I was thinking Howard Stern was leaving radio.
If only that were true.
He should be held personally liable for the SEIU pension underfunding problem - probably where he got his millions from.
SEIU isn’t even a real union. It’s a community organizing tool funded by union dues. Their key is to get into a service industry and fleece the temporary workers like kids into giving due and getting nothing out of it. If your local supermarket is unionized, the kids bagging groceries are paying SEIU dues, but since they won’t ever rise up, they don’t get any benefits.
As anyone who has been in a union knows, the guys at the top get all the goodies, the rest are just dues-paying schlubs.
If you are in the SEIU, aside from the politics, it’s a terrible union. Get out if you can, get it out of your shop. Replace it with any other union if you have to, it’s a bad deal.
Crooks like Stern do NOT give up POWER like this....something smells rotten......he’s STILL going to be running things and skimming money, imho.
That's the way it was 35+ years ago when I was one of those kids bagging grocreies, only it wasn't SEIU.
The union took money out of my paycheck every week.
My guess is he is about to be indicted and that is why he left the union.
It’s Obama’s DOJ...Stern is Obama’s Sugar Daddy......not a CHANCE he’s going to be indicted....not a chance!!
Yeah, but the local Illinois prosecutor isn’t under Obama’s thumb. Could happen. Fitzgerald is a wild card.
