Joe Scarborough has been a deep disappointment. I wonder what the ture story is behind the staffer who was found dead in his office?

I also wonder what he really knew about Chandra Levy and Gary Condit?

wouldn’t a driver’s license suffice? If our states are not differentiating citizen from non on our licenses, then than needs to change immediately. It has a code to indicate a need for corrective lenses, type of license, etc. Am I to assume an illegal alien can get a driver’s license that looks like mine as a citizen but somehow can stay under the radar for everything else. If so, seems like they can easily register to vote, and do a myriad of other things a citizen can do, but not pay taxes or be required to do anything else a citizen is required to do.

They can’t pull a person over without probable cause.

Pull up to the day labor pickup point in plainclothes/unmarked car and yell "migra, migra"! Anyone running away has given probable cause to check their status. Repeat as necessary.

I used to watch Morning Joe, but I find myself flipping more and more to Imus or Fox and Friends (my problem with FaF is the too-many human interest stories rather than the hard news coverage I prefer). Joe has positioned himself to get invited to the best upper west side dinner parties and he has totally wandered off the reservation at this point.

The only "conservative" they ever have on is Pat Buchanan, and he represents only one isolated strain of conservatism ( he should be on, but bring in some conservative congresscritters also, or Rush). I am glad his book failed (it was hoped that it would position him well for a run for the presidency--IMO).

Joe Scarborough is such a jerk. A RINO jerk. I’m glad he’s a FORMER Republican Congressman. He’d fit better with the Democrats....

'wouldn’t a driver’s license suffice? If our states are not differentiating citizen from non on our licenses, then than needs to change immediately. "

They aren't, at least not in the two states that I've held driver's licenses the last 10 years - VA, FL and OH.

"Am I to assume an illegal alien can get a driver’s license that looks like mine as a citizen but somehow can stay under the radar for everything else."

I believe in some states - like California - they can. Moreover, let's say someone was here legally, but at some point in the future, their visa expired. They would now be here illegally, but their driver's license obtained earlier, would still be good until the expiration date.

"The Nazis required you to show your papers to GET OUT."

Not true. Nazis, and the Soviets, required you to show papers to move intranationally as well as internationally.

That’s odd, back in the day when Americas enforced their immigration laws, those people weren’t called Nazis.

I understand your worry that this could lead to a national ID card. However, I trust the state more than I trust the fed.

From azcentral.com:

It will require anyone whom police suspect of being in the country illegally to produce "an alien registration document," such as a green card or other proof of citizenship, such as a passport or Arizona driver's license.

So it sounds like a DL will suffice. Granted not all states require a BC to get a DL, but nothing will be fool proof. Also, I'm sure police could abuse this law, but they can abuse many laws. We rely on them to exercise common sense and to not be _ssholes.

Scarborough is a schmuck. I have to show my "papers" whenever I want to fly somewhere. My understanding is that the Federales can stop anyone within a hundred miles of the border and ask to see proof that a person is not here illegally. (I think this even applies to me here in NJ!) Does Scarborough rail against this? Or is he really concerned that someone wants to finally do something about an army that is invading our country?

My prediction - there will be a flood of civil suits based on false arrest, costing AZ millions to defend. All you have to have happen is for an arrest to be made of a US citizen - put a fork in it, it's done. I'm am sure that they'll will be plenty of advocacy groups putting out pigeons, hoping that this very thing happens.

I understand the emotions connected to this issue. But, like most legislation that is passed in emotional times, the unintended consequences are fully understood or accounted for.

Jan Brewer could run for President and win.

The American people are so sick of elitists telling us we are racist and now “Nazis” for wanting our borders enforced and laws obeyed by illegal immigrant invaders.

Maybe. Maybe such suits would end up at SOTUS, and SOTUS can explain why a state enforcing a Federal law is illegal. I’m no immigration lawyer, but isn’t what the state just empowered cops to do, the very same thing ICE does when it raids a meat packing plant? ICE enters the plant with only probable cause and asks to see people’s papers. I bet technically ICE could jack any of us up in the street right now if it chose to.

True, but the KEY was to keep Jews from leaving, not to prevent wanna-be Nazis from coming in. Totally different situation than in AZ.
