"I was taking pictures at a couple of the recent protests against SB 1070 at the Arizona State Capitol when I was assaulted and intimidated by some of the protest organizers. I was able to record some of this as they attempted to prevent me from exercising my rights. I had initially planned to take a few pictures and then leave. However, some of the organizers started to threaten me and exhibit suspicious behavior. That is when I decided to stay and document what they were doing."

This is a clip showing one of the organizers assaulting me for taking pictures."

"And blog pimps ripping off content and radio host’s names are just fine."

Strange statement on your part but if that is what you believe, then go for it I guess.

"I pimp no blogs."

OK so then your real gripe is he was pimping his blog?

Yes.
Daily.
In a uniform fashion.
Like an automated pimping service.

Yes.

"Yes."

Hmmm Ok but you do realize that Free Republic has put in a special Blog section for the purpose of sharing blogs on Free Republic right?

There is a reason she reacted so violently when she noticed the camera was taping her.

Hold on now. This woman was demonstrating in PUBLIC and didn't want to be taped? Unbelievable!

These are the same people some think should be granted automatic citizenship in our wonderful, law abiding Nation? Why, FGS? They don't respect our laws and certainly have a problem assimilating.

For more than one reason, they don't deserve to be American Citizens.

America, love it or leave it!

Obviously.

But no copyright restrictions between FR and the blog exists.

By not posting the video link and forcing folks to go to
the blog to see the video (day after day after day) this poster
is NOT here to share information, but only to troll for blog hits.

There is NO reason to excerpt blog material.

OK Now (After reading all your posts on the thread) I think I am getting your beef with the OP.

You are of a mind that the OP is ripping off the youtube video for his own blog. (Am I right?) If so then there are a few things you should be aware of.

One of the sure fire ways for a vid to go viral is to spread it on the net using the embed option AND other share options (like posting a link to the Vid in a Tweet on twitter or Facebooks etc.

The more links the faster it goes viral AND even more important the higher its recognition goes on Google and other search engines.

To get an idea do a Google search on: "Are you paying Attention Now?" Post the link to the first entry of if you wish not to bother just tell us what it is. (It should be my youtube video of the same name.)

The reason it is number one for the query is because it went viral via Free Republic Maddagwwmanifesto Twitter Facebook Malkin's Blog Hot air and then got linked to literally 100's of sites after that.

The main reason it got watched is because folks embeded it. Embeds are a great thing even if the blogger who embeds it takes issue with the vid or just posts it without comment. Like P>t Barnum was rumored to have said: "There's no such thing as bad publicity".

Blogs are supposed to be their thoughts and original material.

If it wasn’t for other people’s video and words this blog would be blank.

Giving unoriginal blog pimps a location to do nothing but pimp wasn’t the purpose.

"There's no such thing as bad publicity"

But there IS such a thing as a disingenuous blog pimp.

Getting folks to see the video is fine. I'm all for it.

WHY cause folks to visit some loser blog to do it?

Simply post the link here. I guarantee you more folks will
click a link to Youtube on FR than will click through some
loser blog to accomplish the same thing. It's pimping and I don't have to like it.

If you leave a sign on it that says use this lawnmower freely then yeah!

I have yet to see such a sign on you-tube. The videos are there the mower is there.

There are no such approvals unless you choose to use a thief's justification of it was just sitting there. Further, they have their videos on the same page so you can see all of them for a reason.

"But no copyright restrictions between FR and the blog exists."

Au Contraire Copyright Restrictions are for everything published even Blogs. Its a Uniform act. The Blogger can waive such if he wishes but a Copyright is formed when the original writer (Or in the case of parody the original writer of the parody) writes the piece as per the Copyright Act of 1978:

302. Duration of copyright:

Works created on or after January 1, 1978 (a) In General. — Copyright in a work created on or after January 1, 1978, subsists from its creation and, except as provided by the following subsections, endures for a term consisting of the life of the author and 70 years after the author's death.

Au Contraire

No contraire.

The poster of this thread linked to his own blog.

If he is so proud of having found a video then he need
not excerpt his own (stolen) content to get folks to see
the (stolen) video or to laud his cleverness in having found and stolen it.

The reason for the excerpt is clear:

OK, however claiming someone is stealing something they are clearly meant to share is bad form also. Or at least unclear wording on your part.

Copyright in a work created

He didn't create the video.

a Copyright is formed when the original writer

He didn't even write the title.

How does any of this apply?
