Mississippi Tornado – WOW!! [EF-4, 1.75 miles wide]
WOOD-TV ^ | 4/26/10 | Bill Steffen

The Burning Windsor band traveled north on I-55 in Holmes County, Mississippi early Saturday afternoon. The band was trying to get to Memphis for a gig Saturday night. They never realized they were driving straight into the path of an EF4 tornado! Check out this video (and make sure you click the button on the lower right to make it full scream, er, I mean full screen). The preliminary damage survey by the National Weather Service from the tornadoes in Mississippi on Saturday is nothing short of incredible. There is a continuous tornado damage path of 97 miles from west of Tullulah, Louisiana to Durant, Mississippi. That’s where they had to stop surveying for the day. The continuous track may extend for a total of 160 miles to the north of Columbus! There was one spot where the tornado was an astonishing 1.75 miles wide! The survey team found two spots where damage was rated EF4 with winds estimated to be 170 mph (in Yazoo City and in Holmes Co.).

“The finger of God.” We mere mortals tremble.

I thought that was an F5...

First there was Snowmageddon; then there was the Iceland Ash. Now this — worse than both of those combined. FRiend, I think someone Upstairs is starting to get miffed. America needs to pray!

I drove through nw Tenn. and Kentucky last year, a couple of months after the ice storm went through...you know, the one where Obama felt is was more important to host his Superbowl party at the White Hut, drinking $300 a bottle Krystal champagne and eating $100 a pound Wagyu beef, than to worry about the little people without power during the winter....It looked like bombs went of, FOR MILES...TENS OF MILES, tearing the tops of trees off above 40'. PILES of branches everywhere. They were hauling it out by the truck load.

I figure people will have as much firewood as they could want or handle for the next number of years, but there's going to be a lot of dead trees in a short period of time, causing some real hardships down the road.

EVERY time this current Iceland volcano has erupted, a bigger nastier one has erupted within 6 months . . . over a many 100 year record.

Yellowstone's been relatively quiet.

I think that if God were trying to say something that substantial, he'd make his statement a little closer to the cause of our problems. Imagine an F-4 tornado whipping through Washington, DC.

actually, the DC problem is evidence of the state of decay of the country...make no mistake, they have gotten more emboldened and are now outta control, but it took the People falling asleep at the wheel for em to get over the hump to ungodly tyranny...

I heard the Governor of Miss. telling about individuals loading up their four wheelers and chain saws in their pick up trucks and just getting to work cleaning up the mess.

Guess they didn’t get the memo about sitting around and waiting for FEMA?

Thanks for posting a picture of the Peachtree Westin Hotel after the tornado. Right now, two years after the tornado, every window in the hotel is being replaced.

Amazingly there was only one death caused by the Atlanta tornado. A homeless person was found a few days after the tornado buried under bricks from a collapse building.

I have a wood stove myself and often wish I could be allowed to gather up wood from some roadside property. I know what you mean.

AN EXCELLENT SCRIPTURE FOR THIS ERA.

I’ve increasingly felt that a lot of favorite Scriptures . . . while wonderful for all eras . . . were written PRIMARILY for this one—that one, included.

Of course LUKE and all Scripture is totally true.

The “Mostly” part in that post was referring to your inferences projected between your lines.

The implication I didn’t quite agree with was that this is not necessarily the END TIMES in that say the next 1 year or 3 years may well be nothing greatly out of the ordinary.

I disagree with that inference, implication.

I also wish I had a chain saw that isn’t so hard to crank. Hurts my groin muscle. Hahah!

I have heard "The End Is Near" many times.

That was the one that hit while a big crowd was watching a college basketball game (SEC conference playoff I think) in the Georgia Dome or the Philips Center, I can’t remember which. I’ve seen video of the broadcast on Youtube, you can hear the roar as the tornado goes over and see the suspended lights from the roof swaying.

Right. F-4. This might have been the top of the tornado, rather than the funnel.
