I used to live there...many years ago.

The only thing we worried about then was driving the car down our steep driveway, going across the road because of the ice, and ending up in the semi_frozen lake across the street.

I agree...it is beautiful...but so is Oregon. I guess looks can be deceiving.

Did you know that North Carolina has more cumulative peak prominence than Oregon...slightly.

Peak Prominence is measured by relative elevation rise in feet within a certain radius of peak...

Mountains in NC are 4-7,000 feet lower in altitude but start often from lower base elevation.

Think like when you learn that highest grade rise in world is not Himalayas but Sierra Nevada Colombia near Santa Marta on the Carib coast where it goes from blue Carib sea to 20,000 foot snow peak in 45 miles
