Well, I remember Asheville proper only from the 50s, when we had relatives living near Beaver lake, but in the 80s and 90s,
Waynesville and vicinity was my fall vacation area. 1998 was my last time there.
I used to live there...many years ago.
The only thing we worried about then was driving the car down our steep driveway, going across the road because of the ice, and ending up in the semi_frozen lake across the street.
I agree...it is beautiful...but so is Oregon. I guess looks can be deceiving.

While it’s nice they aren’t jetting off to Hawaii again, like they’re the cast of Dynasty, we wonder just how much golf, how many vacations, and how much “fun time” at taxpayer expense these people can clock in.
Asheville is the San Fransicko of the east. The Grove Park Inn is a 5 star resort. Only the rich go there.
