Jack has escaped in a helicopter. Chloe is trying to talk him down. President Taylor has gone postal. 24 fans: we need to talk!
I was very, very annoyed with the writers for killing off Renee. Obviously they felt Jack had to have sufficient motivation for whatever mayhem he may inflict in these final few episodes ... but I was thinking fondly of Renee and Jack retiring from the biz and opening up a deli together or something. Just a couple of old spooks running a little store somewhere. (You could do a sitcom about that!)
Rene Walker, belovedly known as "Freckles" by Freeper fans of 24. Jack and Freckles would have been so happy together . . . Freckles will be missed :_o(
It's a great season; might wanna avoid more spoiler threads!
I know: Renee was a complicated, beautiful character and she shouldn’t have been killed off. Stupid move.
But I think they are offing some of the actors who don’t want to be in the movie.
Do you think that Pres. T. is going to get it?
And will Jack definitely survive or will it be a cliffhanger without knowing and then he will reappear in the movie?
I’m verklempt that this show is ending too. It’s the best viewing on TV...
>> If ‘24’ starred Chuck Norris, it would be called ‘1’.
Aww ... give Chuck SOME credit. I don’t think he’d have died in the FIRST hour.

>> What will 24 fans do next year??? Sure hope that theres a replacement!
Season 8 will be the final season. They’re moving on to the big screen after 8.

Kinda nice to see 24 back to the Jack-against-the-world routine. Its the way the show started, and it is a fitting way for the show to go out.
It is actually kind of impressive that they found such an organic and clever way to get EVERYONE against him ... including longtime allies. Putting Chloe in charge of CTU (and thus personally responsible for the outcome) was a stroke of brilliance. No matter how much she likes Jack, it isn’t quite as easy to disobey the President when she’s looked you in the eye and given you a direct order.
Its also nice to see Jack back to his rebellious roots — i.e. instead of chastizing the commando team leader (that helped save NY by turning over Hassan) for disobeying his President, now he’s disobeying her himself.
There appears to be a very conservative message building for the final 6 hours ... peace treaties are just pieces of paper. The bad guys are still the bad guys.

Oh SD, I’m glad you are here...I reread your former thread on 24!
How is Jack going to get out of this one? Next week, it shows the planes flying next to him and threatening to shoot him down. Jack can do alot a things...but this one could be a tuffie. Do we have to ask for a miracle here or is Jack in control?
I abhor Allison T. now and her frikkin’ “Peace Agreement”. WTH?
And Jack Logan(from a town near me in Wisconsin) is as diabolical as ever, isn’t he?
How about Ethan’s miraculous recovery from heart failure? A couple of hours ago, he was near death.
and Jack doesn’t seem the worse for wear either, after being tortured.

I think he had a similar situation with the drug dealer prison escape a few years back. He flew directly over a populated area and landed in the middle of a busy street just before they shot him out of the sky.
>> And [...] Logan(from a town near me in Wisconsin) is as diabolical as ever, isnt he?
I’d say we’re 4-to-1 on the season ending with Jack putting a bullet in Charles Logan’s head.

So long as they aren’t dead, 24 characters are resilient. Tony took control of CTU for 4 hours after being shot in the jugular and gushing blood all over the floor of a mall.

Wow. What a cliffhanger ;~)) I don't watch '24' but it sounds about like these old films from back in the 30's. You had to go back to the theather the next week to see how the hero got out of the jam he was in.
24 pretty much reinvented the cliffhanger. The whole season is one 24-hour plot line with several sub-plots ... so every episode is a cliffhanger.
Some of them are traditional Flash Gordon style cliffhangers (where it stops just before the climax to make sure you come back next week). Some are less conventional ... i.e. you see the big climactic event at the end of the episode, but you don’t see the reaction to the big event until next week rolls around.
If you like cliffhangers ... I’d highly recommend 24.

But as my wife so astutely observed, Chloe could never betray Jack, so when she called him on the radio as he was taking off in the helicopter, she slyly let him know what to be watching out for when she told him she'd have to send the air interceptor jets after him, so now he knows what to expect and can plan for his escape from them. Chloe is such a loyal babe! - OB1
Didn’t Jack have to kill Tony? and then he came back in the next season with the explanation that he was revived by an injection of something and he wasn’t really dead.
Can you refresh my bad memory here, SD?
Oh, and yes, I would agree that Logan is going to get “justice” from Jack.
I just hope the writers, including Kiefer, don’t go green, soft or politically correct on us in the final hours.
Your wife is very observant, OB1. But we already saw that the interceptor planes are going to be surrounding Jack in the helicopter. Hmmm. Maybe he’ll push his eject button?
Jack against the entire USAF? well, I’ll bet on Jack any day. :-) But I don’t think ejecting is gonna work.
Maybe he’s gonna have to take a few planes out himself. What does he have to lose? He’s got stuff to blow up and people to kill and they are annoying him.
Oh, and what about the body in the vent(the probation officer)? when do bodies start to smell?
Christopher Henderson “killed” Tony by injection, and he was revived after being taken away (apparently).
Since they already know that Dana is a mole ... the hidden body won’t make much difference (and probably won’t come up again). She killed a few guards on her escape attempt anyway — so they know she’s killed people. Since she was captured, she may have already told them about the body, and Cole did a full debriefing on the Dana/Jenny/redneck boyfriend robbery mess after Dana was caught.

SD: Are you sure about Tony “dying” by lethal injection? I thought Jack had to kill him.
I missed the part about Cole doing a full debriefing.
I wish they would let his character be more prominent. FP Jr. is a good actor. Dana is not, IMO.
I would also guess that Dana fully disclosed the murder of whats-his-name so it could be included in the proposed immunity agreements. If she left out that information and it wasn’t included in the immunity deal, she could get pardoned on all the terrorist/spying stuff ... and imprisoned for life for mudering a parole officer.
