Democrats Don't Want To Go By PAYGO Rules, Raise Taxes Or Cut Spending To Pay For Jobless Benefits

...and they don't want to use unused stimulus money, either, to pay for jobless benefits...

Democrats gave their full support to PAYGO last year. Obama said that they must pay-as-you-go like the rest of America, which means that these jobless benefits must be deficit neutral: either raise taxes or cut spending elsewhere to pay for them.

But Democrats don't want go by PAYGO rules, don't want to raise taxes to pay for the jobless benefits, don't want to take any unused stimulus bill money (even money that won't be used until 2011) to pay for jobless benefits and don't want to cut spending elsewhere to pay for the jobless benefits.

All they want to do is add to the federal debt and demonize Republicans who take a stand for fiscal responsibility as being heartless and use people who are seeking the jobless benefits as political pawns.

Harry Reid said that cutting spending elsewhere could hurt the economy and would offset the positive effects of the jobless benefits bill. Nancy Pelosi said that this is an emergency issue so they don't have to go by PAYGO rules.

What Democrats are doing is doing all that they can to keep from having to 1.) take still unused stimulus bill money to pay for jobless benefits now (they need to keep the political payoff money for later), 2.) raise taxes (would hurt them politically), or 3.) cut spending elsewhere (Dems don't cut spending).

All Democrats want to do is keep coming up with excuses (like Reid's & Pelosi's) to continue adding to the federal debt and make it appear as if they are really trying to be fiscally responsible, while they demonize Republicans who take a stand for fiscal responsibility as being heartless, use the unemployed as political pawns and avoid raising taxes or cutting spending elsewhere to pay for jobless benefits.

The GOP could stick it to the Dems and expose them big time on this. But will they? What I have here is all that the GOP needs to say.

The GOP could take this political tactic/strategy away from the Democrats...

I agree with the hypocricy being exhibited by the dem approach. The risk/reward ratio is too high for the Republicans to touch this one right now. Too many people empathize with laid off people, and in fact many would suggest subsidizing laid off people is better than bailing out businesses. So, this is a high risk item to battle with the democrats, as Jim Bunning learned. The reward, well not too high. The "savings" in tax dollars is a couple of orders of magnitude smaller than the health care costs. Although a very true issue, politically it is high risk and the monetary rewards are very small.

Stay focused on health care, economy and tap & raid (our wallets).

Look... its soooo easy to just borrow the money from our Chicom Masters. Enslave the working class by massive debt service and provide billions to political cronies to keep power. Democracy has died in America...

The Chicoms really don’t want to loan us anymore money.

1.) Borrow and spend from the Chicoms is therefore pretty much over.
2.) Printing money out the wazoo leads to hyperinflation - can’t do that.
3.) Tax and spend is not politically feasible for Dems right now.
4.) Dems don’t want to cut spending.
5.) Dems don’t want to use unused stimulus money.

Pile on more federal debt is all that’s left for them - and they know this.

I’m not working right now and I don’t want to be paying for other people’s endless unemployment benefits.

Both sides love PAYGO...until they’re faced with paying for something they really want. Then it goes out the window.

But conservatives haven’t been using unemployed people as pawns in this case. Liberals (Pelosi, Reid & fellow Dems) have been, though.

Conservatives have been saying that if Dems don’t want to raise taxes, that if they don’t want to cut spending elsewhere & that if they don’t want to go by PAYGO rules, then they should use unused stimulus money that won’t go into effect until late 2011...now.

Federal debt requires the Federal joke (er, I mean "government') to borrow money from someone. If not the Chinese... who?
