As you all know, we don't do opposition research. If we did, it would probably look something like this:
I'm sure you'll have seen the media rumors about Romney supporters rigging the SRLC straw poll:
I spoke to a young female delegate who said she planned to vote for Romney in the poll. I asked her how she had ended up at the conference. She said "Evangelicals for Mitt" had contacted her and offered to pay for her to have a limited-access ticket -- so long as she agreed to vote for Romney in the straw poll.
Asked how "Evangelicals for Mitt" got her name, she said she didn't know. But she said that she was on the e-mail list for Romney, and speculated that the Romney team had given out their e-mail list. "Evangelicals for Mitt" co-founder David French said in an interview yesterday that his group is not coordinating with the Romney team, though he noted that his wife had worked with the Romney campaign in the past.
UPDATE: Politico's Ben Smith reports that a conference organizer told him that "Evangelicals for Mitt" and Ron Paul's "Campaign for Liberty" bought blocks of tickets to the conference, which can then be given to supporters who cast ballots in the straw poll. Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom denied to Smith the Romney e-mail list had been released to "Evangelicals for Mitt."
The founders of Evangelicals for Mitt are David and Nancy French, both listed as "Romney For President National Faith And Values Steering Committee Vice-Chairs" for his failed 2008 campaign. Just your average grassroots supporters then.
Turns out Dave and Nancy have form when it comes to vote-rigging. They were caught lying about bulk-buying votes for Romney at a previous SRLC straw poll in 2006.

Romney and Ron Paul both buy votes for straw polls. It doesn’t mean anything anyway. I can see some scenarios where Romney could win the nomination but it won’t be the result of the SRLC straw poll or any other straw poll.
Isn’t that precious—and to be expected: Romney’s faith and values committee co-chair lying about giving free vacations to those who would vote their way in a straw poll.
It sure does the way the press picks up and runs with it. It’s giving them a fig leaf with which to try to palm the Naked Emperor Romney statue on Republicans for 2012.
My concern about Romney is that he will get the nomination based on a combination of name recognition and crossover votes from independents and Democrats in the open primary states.
Once again, the Legion of RomneyBOTs are shown to have
absolutely NO morals, NO ethics. NONE. Like their master.
I move we do a “FR” staw poll convention and have these suckers truck in these blocks of tickets.
Dinner will be at a local Dennys, no speeches, and all proceeds go to the FR fundraising.
Straw polls are for the media.
Bill Oreily was gushing about Romney. (I was watching because I saw brit hume in passing the channel) Once I quickly figured out it was just NYC and DC betway disease gushing by insiders I changed the channel to the far more interesting “watch lawn growing” channel.

That’s a very fair concern, and that’s the kind of voter who gets influenced by the press—which, again, uses a straw poll to willfully misrepresent his strength.
Chill out. It’s only a straw poll. And it’s a little hypocritical coming from a “conservatives for Palin” blog since she also handed out gifts at the conference. Maybe instead of trashing Romney they should spend more time supporting Palin so she can do better next time.
Truly vile.
Here is video evidence of romney supporters “buying” votes at the conference:

Someone arrest them! /s
geeeeeeeeez this crap is getting old folks.
You are so right.
This crap is getting old, folks.
Romney must remove himself from contention. Immediately.
And he must sack, fire, and expose all of the saboteurs
who attacked Gov. Palin and her children on the eve
of Election 2008.
It’s too bad Palin, who apparently made $12 million in the last year, didn’t think to reward her supporters with tickets to this event. :-)
Interesting home page you have there...I especially like the picture of Mitt sneaking up behind Sarah's back that's lumped in with the Mitt adoration.
Why am I NOT surprised PING
