Hemet police arrest 23 people for recent attacks

SNIPPET: HEMET - Hemet police arrested 23 people today while serving search warrants in at least 35 locations countywide as part of an investigation into recent attacks on police and city facilities.
About 200 law enforcement personnel from federal, state, county and city agencies took part in todays raid, which also yielded 16 firearms, along with other evidence and contraband, Hemet police Capt. Dave Brown said.
As of this afternoon, no charges have been filed in connection with the ongoing investigation into a series of attacks on city and police facilities.
The operation came about a week after the Hemet City Council gave the city manager emergency purchasing power to outfit police with whatever equipment, resources and personnel were deemed necessary to combat the attacks that have put police on the defensive.

SNIPPET: As of 4 p.m., Brown said 23 people were arrested or detained during the sweep of 35 different locations, but none of the allegations against those arrested involve the series of attacks that started Dec. 31, Brown said in a news release. The charges involved parole violations, narcotic offenses and weapons allegations, Brown said.
SNIPPET: Brown said he wanted remind the public there is a $200,000 reward being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for these crimes.
Police have created confidential tip lines where the public can give information related to these crimes the number is 951-765-3897, and the email address is tips@cityofhemet.org.
The Hemet Police Department will protect the identity of the tipsters and those wanting to remain anonymous can do so, Brown said. Please contact us if you feel you may have information related to these crimes.
