The log cabins in this collection of vintage photographs have been lost, to the best of my knowledge. Timbers may have been salvaged from some, and it is possible that one or two have somehow survived, but if so I can find no trace of them.

Thats what happened to the mountain folk in east Tennessee. They were displaced when they took the land for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Now the mountains are covered with cheap log cabins built practically on top of each other.
Be careful around TVA cops, too. Those guys are really proud of themselves.....
Same kind of thing happened — and is still happening — on the NC side of the Smokies. Lakeshore property taken for “public use” is being proposed or parceled out for private development. IMO, a proper definition of “taking for public use” is one of three sorely-needed Constitutional amendments. The other two are (1) abolishing the income tax and (2) specifying that only citizens are counted for the purpose of representation in Congress.
Ahhh, the Kelo SCOTUS decision rears it's ugly head once again.......
Republic huh? Miller for 30 years and now Joplin area. Funny to find someone so close.
Someone was saying the other day, there are far more cabins around, it’s just no one knows because they’re hidden behind the updates.
Drive from Morrisville north up 32 along the Delaware to Easton. We call it River Road. Wonderful drive. Of course, stop in Washington’s Crossing Park and stop and see Bowman’s Tower.
