If you don’t buy health insurance, they’ll fine you. If you don’t pay the fine, they’ll arrest you. If you resist arrest, they’ll kill you...but they better plan on bringing more than 1 body bag.
Fine, PECKER-HEAD; we’ll start working for cash and you can stuff your IRS.
IRS Won't Hunt the Uninsured

A centerpiece of the new health care law calls on most Americans to buy health insurance by 2014 or start paying fines collected by the Internal Revenue Service. But IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman said Monday that federal agents won't chase after people who don't pay up."These are not the kinds of things we send agents out about," he said. "These are things where you get a letter from us. Congress was very careful to make sure there was nothing too punitive in this bill." .
And this is truly unconstitutional. The SCOTUS better do their job...
I’d like to remove/disown the banks (and any other financial institution) but where I work - we are required to have direct deposit. So, I’m thinking - that on payday, using my debit card, withdrawing my pay over a period of several days and leave ten bucks in the account to keep it open. I’ll buy money orders instead.
Me, I tweak withholding so that I wind up with a small refund check. I'd prefer to get a few bucks back in April, rather than need to write a check, myself. Of course, it's easy to dial it the other way, too. :-)
I wonder how he explains away all the cheating that has been going on in Massachusetts--people paying the inexpensive fine instead of high insurance premiums while they are healthy, then buying insurance when they are sick, going off again when they don't need care, in a cycle that lets them rip off the system just like Greta said she feared.
bzactly.
The one good thing about this policy is that it will convert a lot of liberals to conservative. Overnight.
Actually, I haven’t decided yet whether I’m going to be a political prisoner or a rebel. It’ll be a surprise to them one way or another when it happens.
There was an interesting thread on FR about this the other day. It was discussing the 10th, and States Rights. Roughly, the opinion was that the Fed can come arrest Fantail1952....but they can't come and arrest, say, South Carolina.
Figure that any action won't be taken by Brock O'Bama himself, or the Fed as an entity. It'll be the FBI agent at the satellite office in your local county seat that gets the orders to come and look you up. And, he may not follow the orders. Or the orders may not percolate down to his level. Or if they do, he may find "other things" to pursue. Lots of more important things for LE to do than look up tax cheats.
I may be a Pollyanna here, but I think that - in general, with some exceptions - the agent that tackles Child Molesters or Drug Trafficers with a completely clean conscience....might have more of a problem arresting his next-door neighbor for not purchasing health insurance. Particularly as it's likely an unconstitutional order to begin with.
No, what worries me is if BO brings in others for enforcement. Think Chinese. (Currently) Illegals. Disadvantaged Inner City youth from the projects on the other side of the continent. Etc.
People who don't know you, don't need to live in your neighborhood, who have no ties here. No vested interest in standing with you.
*That* is what worries me. Lots of tinfoil hat stuff here on FR, but the drumbeat is getting louder. I'm currently hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.
/rant off. Thanks for listening.
Anybody who believes that also believes in the Easter Bunny.
If you are due a refund they will take it. If no refund is due they will take money out of your bank account. If you have no bank account they will take from your paycheck either by another withholding tax or by garnishment or both. After that, who knows, work off our debt to the government in work camps??
Many of them will be. All they have to do, if their reported income is low enough, is sign an "I buy" document, because the price for them will be zero or close to it.
>Is welfare still hiring? I hear its a pretty lucrative career; tons of perks and benefits.<
It’s the people that you have to work with that gets to you. I would want to be a nurse, waiter, clerk or anything that deals face to face with the general public.
Sorry for the late reply here. I read somewhere that Shulman said that the IRS won’t be chasing people down, instead, they’ll just deduct it from their tax returns.
