Someone might say to me, You just believe in God because of the life youve had. If youd had my life, it wouldve been a lot harder and maybe faith wouldnt come so easy. But my faith hasnt come easily. Ive struggled mightily for many years with questions, temptations, pain and loss, since inviting Jesus in twenty-two years ago. But Hes loved me the whole way more than I ever imagined possible before that day. And its those struggles which have fortified my faith. So why would another believe it wasnt so?
Many of us, even Christians, have lead or are leading insulated lives. Not insulated from God or from the events of life necessarily, but rather from other people and their hearts. Im confident people dont set out to live this way; after all, no one pursues loneliness, yet some choose to live along the path that inevitably brings them there. They are understood to be antisocial or unfriendly, and the behavior becomes self-fulfilling.
