This is an orchestral march based on FreeMike's painting of the 9/12 DC march. (Starting around the 3:10 mark, the piece envisions the horse galloping)
A Free Republic
I originally begain this a couple years ago as the 3rd movement of my 3rd symphony but gave up after about 20 measures because I couldn't make it work. The piece had a lot of motion and Mikes painting made me think of it again, in the context of being a march. When I added percussion, this work pretty much wrote itself.
The last 4 or 5 measures are missing because after the healthcare vote, I was completely deflated an just gave up.
Technical info: This mock-up was written on an Intel Core i7 2.85 / 12 Gigs RAM / Windows 7 64-Bit / Cubase 5 32-Bit rewired with Reason 4 / Keyboard: Yamaha Motiff ES8 / Sound Bank: Quantum Leap/East West Symphonic Orchestra & Stormdrum 2 / Mix-down: Cubase 5 with Izotope Ozone 4 and WAVES L2/L3

Outstanding! I love the symbolism of it being unfinished because of the healthcare fiasco. I pray for its eventual repeal and for that to be the inspiration for the grand finish... or an even more moving follow-on piece.
I emailed my oldest, Clarinet_King, to come to the thread and have a listen. Would love to hear some of your other works.

YOU people. Do you know how much the tuba sucks when you're a bassoonist? You flappy-lipped clowns owe your lives to the french horn line being between our sections.

Finally got my player to work. That’s very good. What do you want it to be? Third movement of your symphony? Stand alone March? Tone poem based on the picture.
I’m not much of a composer, but 22 years as a professional musician says you have something there.

Magnificent! Absolutely inspiring! It made me picture patriots, those gone before and those now living. It would be a terrific movie score. Moved me to tears. Thank you for creating it and sharing it here. Bravo, Psycho_Bunny!
You know...it does seem awfully strange to give high praise to someone who goes by the name of Psycho_Bunny. LOL

Wow! Just wow! That is so wonderful! Beautiful! Just beautiful! I don't even know what to say! That my little painting would inspire you to create something so wonderful I don't know what to say! Here is a newer image of the painting. When I took that picture the painting wasn't yet finished and the lighting was poor.
