This one was pretty transparent, actually, and the Dems have gotten lazy. When the media will take any such accusation, sensationalize it, and run with it, you don’t have to work very hard to get the smear out there. However, when the public at large starts not to trust the media anymore, it’s a disaster waiting to happen.
Suppose next time Sarah Palin makes a public appearance, she later issues a statement saying she was called sexist names by left-wing protesters.
Any guesses as to how many lame stream media outlets would report it?

Farrakan preaches that the right-wing is setting up Obama for assasination. What rubbish!! No one calls the racist fomenter of divisive hostilities on it (although clearly it is Farrakan than would luxuriate in that type of evil)(I still recall Farrakan on C-span right after 911 spouting off about how America deserved it...not my favorite demogogue).
