Barack Obama and Democrats act like they've just won the Super Bowl or are going to Disneyland, but that begs the question, Why? Why are they acting with irrational exuberance over passing the Obamacare bill when it will only worsen the expected, 40,000 fewer primary care physicians that without the Obamacare bill are already expected across the country? Why are they acting with irrational exuberance over passing the Obamacare bill when it will only worsen the projected, 150,000 primary care physician shortfall that's expected to arrive by 2025? If you consider the fact that Obamacare will add another whopping, projected 32 million or so patients to the patient lists of the primary care physicians who are already disappearing like dinosaurs...well, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the result won't be pretty.

Pfffffffft.....I was over @ FaceBook & argued w/ some progressives about ObamaCare — & they said that ObamaCare would CREATE jobs & build new hospitals!
Good grief!

Six of my neighbors are doctors.
They don’t know how they’re going to earn their income.
Most all, they’re concerned with how they’re going to be able to pay their bills and support their families.
Of course it doesn't take a genius. Not sure why the results won't be pretty though. With the insurance industry collapsed and a shortage of doctors, it sounds like a real pretty situation for the government to come to the rescue.
Just like it will come to the rescue of all the folks laid off due to the increased burden on business. And even some businesses, that see rough times because of these burdens, will be rescued by the all-powerful, yet benevolent masters in government.
It's all part of the plan baby! (”Unintentional consequences” my arse!)
Schenker misuses the phrase “begs the question.”
because the’re f’in morons
I had this conversation with my 12-year old daughter about what would you do if you were a doctor and instead of making $100 and hour you only got paid $20 an hour. (I think that is about the ratio of regular vs. medicare payments).
“I would work more.”
“Why would you work more?”
“So I can still have a house, food, etc.” (good work ethic answer!)
“But, you work your butt off now for $100 an hour. That’s good money, but you also have lots of bills to pay. And now I just cut you to $20 an hour. Are you really going to want to harder for less money?”
“Oh, no. Well, I’ll ask for a raise.”
“You can’t have a raise. We voted, and you get $20 an hour.”
“But I didn’t vote!”
“No, but we voted, and the people voted us in, and now it is law - $20 an hour”.
“Well, then I quit.”
“Exactly honey. And you could go to another country perhaps and be a doctor. Or, with all the brains you have, being a doctor and all, you could probably be whatever you wanted to be.”
I told my wife - “Our 12 year old daughter gets it. Why can’t the liberals get it?”
See my post 5. The liberal voters are morons, and Obama MIGHT be, but it is all going according to plan.
Obama will import Doctors from other countries (including 3rd world countries) to service our hospitals and clinics. They will be hired cheap and will be thankful for it. As to the quality of these doctors, that is for you to find out. Lots of new visas for foreign doctors. I suspect Pakistani’s, Indians (from India), and Arab doctors in general will be high on the list.
And now that the Obama Admin controls all student loans, who do you think will get them? Not Whitey. There will be a huge increase of loans and scholarships that will go to minorities who choose the medical profession, as well as to foreign students wanting to pursue medical careers in our Universities. This is our country’s future.
Why? Because Democrats only think with feelings, they don’t live in the real world. So everyday that they can throw other peoples money at feel good government programs, is a day at Disney World for them.
Just wait till doctors are paid like teachers. Could you imagine doctors going on strike?
Patient care will go down too, if you are a doctor or nurse caring for a patient who is not a paying costumer and on the government dole, why even bother putting your time and energy into it, especially if the patient is rude, non compliant, or just not worth your time. Why even bother marketing your practice? Do they really think doctors will have the money to hire more nurses and create more jobs? I would think, “Well, they get what they pay for.”
I lived in Germany for fifteen years...up until this spring when I left. There’s an interesting story which hasn’t been told in the US press which gives you an indicator of what is to come.
Germany has public healthcare....if you make under $60k (roughly), you pay into the system...and if you make more...you have the option of doing whatever deal you want or even no health care insurance. The entire system is heavily built into “control” (over salary structure of doctors & nurses, profits for hospitals & drug companies, and cost limits on each procedure).
So about a decade a ago...doctors started to complain that their salary structure wasn’t improving and they were dissatisfied (in public medicine, NOT private medicine where you still make your own prices). Somewhere along the summer of 2004 to the end of 2005...German doctors finally had enough and started to deregister and leave the country for Canada, Australia, the US and various places where doctors were paid a better wage.
In the midst of 2005...the German government realized the impact because almost 5,000 doctors had left or signed to leave. In a country of 80 million....5k doctors makes a pretty fair indicator. So the government put a salary plus-up into effect, but it also meant higher costs on insurance.
The damage had been done. In my local community, we had one clinic with two doctors who were mostly overworked and really needing a third doctor badly. Getting a new doctor when the whole system is begging for more doctors is just about impossible. So they ended up recruiting a Turkish doctor to come in. The locals didn’t exactly have the same trust in the guy...even though he had been been a professor at a medical training establishment.
The problem is that when you realize doctors are leaving...it’s already too late. The same trend with German nurses is underway right now and raises will have to be offered to them (you can guess the necessity of bringing in new cost increases). The real bottom line? When the government comes to say they’ve fixed something....it merely means they’ve created problem number 1.1. Later when they say they’ve fixed something....they merely create problem number 1.2. Nothing ever gets fixed.

Right you are. Thanks for the interesting Germany tidbit. Confirms my beliefs as tio what’s coming our way.
I wonder what the enrollment rates are for med schools in Pakistan and other muslim countries doing right now.
Because they have have the mental capacity of a 6 year old. Your daughter is way ahead of them.
My internist is quitting, that puts his nurse, NP, receptionist, and billing/record keeper out of work also, with the exception of the receptionist and NP the other 2 are near retirement age and will have a VERY hard time finding new jobs.
I’ll say it again. The US healthcare system is so large that it is not possible for a central authority to take it over. A central authority can break it, but that is all.
Supports the theory that death panels are real, and that actual health care for all was never intended. Fewer doctors mean only some will get care, and the government will have to decide who the who is.
Progressive plans they float like rocks.
