Feeling Safe in a Democratic Czardom – Part 1

There are few democratic senate seats that are deemed safe blue in November no matter what and who. It is time to zoom-in to this “safe democratic czardoms” and see what kind of folks rule there. Senator Mikulski, Barbara (D-Md) – most recently she proposed the “filibuster reform”. While she was in minority she did not mind to exercise a check on the majority through filibuster (a great American tradition in which to get something done in the Senate you need 60 votes not just 50+1)

“I was raised in a country where I thought the majority ruled” -discovered Mikulski last month-“ Every single thing we want to do to help people is stopped by the filibuster. Job reform is stopped by the filibuster. Health reform is stopped by the filibuster... But when all is said is done, more gets said than gets done. The filibuster means that in order to get something done you need 60 votes. It protects the rights of the minority. But it is not being used as intended. It’s a dated rule from another century. I’m done with it…. I’m sick of it….”
Wow! Protecting the minority is so last century for Senator Mikulski! I thought the Democrats liked to protect the rights of the minorities. Filibuster rule in the Senate is set to protect the minority against overreaching majority of any kind. The Mikulski attempt to take away the minority protection is despicable and anti-American. The only way to make Barbara Mikulski to realize she is wrong is if in November she becomes part of the minority or even better if she watches the struggle of the Democratic minority on TV because she has been voted out. Take that Mikulski!
