Romney leads tight Republican race (Rats wants another "moderate Republican" in '12) (BARF ALERT)
Public Policy Polling ^ | 2010-03-19

Our first national look at who Republicans would prefer as their 2012 Presidential nominee confirms the wide open nature of the field. The leading candidates are all within the margin of error of each other, with Mitt Romney leading at 28% followed by Mike Huckabee at 24% and Sarah Palin at 23%. Ron Paul pulls 11%, 9% say they're undecided, and 6% say their preference would be someone else.

Romney's lead speaks to the fact that moderates could actually pick the GOP nominee in 2012. That's because there's gridlock among conservatives about who their preferred candidate is. Huckabee leads with 28% to 27% for Palin and 25% for Romney. But the former Massachusetts Governor has a large advantage with moderates, getting 35% to 17% for Palin and 16% for Huckabee. That significant edge with them gives him the overall lead.

If it’s Romney vs. Obama. Obama wins.

How can you defeat ObamaCare with RomneyCare?

Huh?
I have seen at least 5 polls from PPP for the Republican 2012 nomination.

These polls are largely irrelevant, since they poll people about four candidates who really have no business being in the running in 2012. New blood in ‘12!

DeMint, Pence, Daniels, and several others need to be considered.

Al Gore, on his website, flags this passage in Mitt Romney’s recent book No Apology: “I believe that climate change is occurring — the reduction in the size of global ice caps is hard to ignore. I also believe that human activity is a contributing factor.”

Once again: Ignore all horserace articles from the SRM. They’re designed to give us another McCain disaster.

Where is RINO Romney
as the Dems push through ObamaCARE?

Answer: The RINO coward is hiding, sending out his saboteurs
against Gov. Palin and all conservative GOP stars again,
selling his ghostwritten book, helping Gore push the fraud of climate change,
and attacking the “tea party”.

Who gives a frigging frig what moderates want?

“Moderates” gave us Obama. “Moderates” gave us the current crop of RINO idiots, and those same idiots gave control of the House and Senate to the socialists when they tried to be the Socialist-Lite party.

Vote as a moderate for a moderate, and you’re voting for more of the same lukewarm, wishy-washy progressivism that has bankrupted our country at every possible level. Vote as a conservative for a real conservative, and you’re voting to return this country to American values... and move it forward into the light.

Just as picking McCain in 2008 took Shamnesty off the table as an election issue.

Romney vs. Obama means socialism wins no matter what the outcome of the election is.

No thanks. I’m tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. If the GOP wants to keep putting up democrat-lite candidates, I’ll keep sending my money and my votes to conservaive candidates.

By not being the incumbent with 10+% unemployment. Seriously, Romney would have a shot just because of how badly Obama is blowing his term.

That said, if Romney gets the nomination, I am voting 3rd party.

Romney IS Obama. On everything. Everything.

Sneaky Mitt RomneyCARE (D, Carpetbagger):
“Proudly, I Was For The Obama Bailout ....
Before I Was Against It”

“Romney praises Obama
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney praised President Obama
at a GOP fundraising dinner Wednesday ..
"I also think it's important for us to nod to the president when he's right," Romney said....
Romney, who spoke at a dinner for the National Republican Senatorial Committee,
said he's pleased with the president's plans to "finish the job" in Iraq and Afghanistan
-- lines that drew applause from the partisan audience. He also applauded the president
for standing up to the auto industry.
"I hope he continues to be tough ....The former businessman even offered faint praise for
Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, saying that after a series of initial missteps,
"I think he's finally getting close to the right answer."

This is a pointless exercise (polling) because the landscape will shift at least one more time after the Nov 2010 elections. IF the GOP were to pick up the house, then Obama can start running against the GOP leadership for 2 years.

It would almost be better for the GOP to get within one seat of taking the house, so Pelosi is on the hotseat for 2 more years.

However, the general theme remains the same. Romney could pull a McCain if Palin and Huckabee go for the right. A scenario I could see happening is Palin taking a higher portion of the vote than Huckabee, but Hucakbee taking enough to give the election to Romney, then Palin offers the VP spot to Huckabee if he gets out. Two former governors of States running as outsiders and against the Federal Govt.

Then again, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Rick Perry throw his hat in the game too. Whether he could get any traction is another story.

I also am still not eliminating the possibility that Palin, if she ran, might run as an independent if Romney is the nominee. Try to pull a Jesse Ventura/Perot with Obama far left, Romney center and Palin trying to get 36% on the Right. She has the name recognition to do it, but she would have to really get rolling soon to have the infrastructure to get on the ballots. It is a longshot, but if there ever was a time it could work, 2012 is it IMO.

It’s not just the Rats who would like to see another progressive Republican be the GOP nominee for POTUS in 2012. It’s the GOP Establishment & the MSM, too. All of them are working hand-in-hand.

I prefer either Daniels of Indiana or Otter of Idaho. If neither of those men run, I support Palin.

Well, that will be another Obama victory if a RINO is selected.

Third choice for me. Of course my first two choices are little known and have made no moves to even look like they are going to run....so I will likely vote Palin in the primary.
