Census Stalkers
Atlas shrugs ^ | pamela geller

Posted on 03/18/2010 3:00:06 PM PDT by opentalk

Overreaching and out of bounds. Intrusive. Harassment. The above is the tenth or eleventh notice I have had from the census bureau.

For the past month I have been called, harassed and visited by a Pamela Childs of the Census Bureau, who was pursuing me for an interview. Knowing my rights under the law, even under the current coup, I did not respond. I filled out my form -- that which is required by law -- but still received calls, visits, notes. Daily.

At one point, I left a message saying I would not speak to her. Period.

A week passed, and now I am being harassed again by another census goose stepper, Constance Atman. They want to interview me poisonally.

The country is going bankrupt and they can't throw money away fast enough on this power play.

It's pretty clear Obama intends to use the census to fix the next and future elections so as to ensure his Radical Left polices prevail for the long-term.

Morris points out that Obama will:
1. Legalize millions of illegal aliens
2. Use Acorn to “assist” with the next census
Census goons prying into my private life. Welcome to Oganda.

But I suspect there is more in the offing. I am not a member of the Libertarian party, nor do I back their positions on drugs, foreign policy and the like, but I agree with the statement of their chairman, William Redpath: "The Libertarian Party believes that the federal government's current census procedures are unconstitutional, unnecessary, and too expensive. We believe that the census is constitutionally limited to collecting only one piece of information about each residence: the number of persons living in it. We urge Congress to change the census laws to comply with this constitutional limitation.

"The U.S. Constitution empowers Congress to provide for a census in order to apportion Representatives correctly. The Constitution does not empower Congress to use a census for any other purpose. There is no need for Congress to collect additional information such as names, races, ages, sexes, or home ownership status. Unfortunately, the federal government wants to use the additional information to fine tune its control over the lives and money of the American people.

"The 2010 census is expected to cost over $14 billion. A recent report from the Inspector General of the Department of Commerce indicates that preparations for the 2010 census have already been filled with waste and bloat. A proper census, limited to just a headcount, would be far less expensive.

UPDATE: Atlas reader Dave sent me a copy of the Census form that he sent back. He quipped:

Attached is a scan of the actual census form I mailed back today. I’m told I should expect a call. No problem to me, I’ll be happy to tell someone what I wrote on the form!

UPDATE: Today's mail brings Atlas two more Census letters - from Atmans' supervisor Lestoer A Farthing, Regional Director

Mind you, I already filled out and sent in my form the day after I got it. This nonsense began a month ago.

However, our Representative has been unable to reach you after numerous attempts. Because of the importance of this survey, we would appreciate you telling us how you can be contacted.

Are you constitutionally required to answer the questions about your sex and age. I haven’t filled mine out yet and I want to give as little information as legally possible.

I don’t want my telephone number, exact birthdate or race infoprmation out there.

If we’re all Americans, why the race questions unless you plan to use race.

I am going to answer mine the way I want then ignore them for a year.

I don’t remember the personal interviews in the last census especially after the author mailed in the form. Seems overkill, Big brother.

The census from years ago show Name, Age, Race, Occupation and where the parents were born. That’s what I will give them this year.

Hmm, too bad you couldn’t get a restraining order against her. I’d love to see them try to visit me, right on the Mexican border, they’d have to deal with desert isolation, smugglers, border patrol, high speed vehicle pursuits, dogs, no lights at night, coyotes, mountain lion, rattle snakes, and everyone is armed, just to mention a few challenges!

From Wallstreet Journal

Our Unconstitutional Census
California could get nine House seats it doesn’t deserve because illegal aliens will be counted in 2010.

More non-Cens(us) over at our nation’s federal immigration enforcement agency.link

---Memo

To all ICE Employees
March 3, 2010

Policy Guidelines for ICE Operations During Census 2010

This year, the U.S. Census Bureau will conduct the decennial census. ICE supports the Census Bureau’s efforts and recognizes the importance of collecting accurate and comprehensive data for the census, including from people residing in the United States without lawful immigration status. While ICE will continue to enforce the immigration laws during the census period, the policy guidelines provide steps that should be taken to avoid adverse effects on census participation.

ICE employees are reminded that census data is confidential and may not be used for immigration enforcement purposes. Employees are expected to refer to the policy guidelines and related materials from the Census Bureau, available on the ICE Policy website, or at: https://intranet.ice.dhs.gov/doclib/sites/opp/policies/2010census.pdf.

John Morton
Assistant Secretary
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement

(Emphasis added.)
Hmmm . . . maybe they should change his agency’s name to Immigration in Non-Census Times and Customs Enforcement.---

No. Just number of people in the residence.

You can answer all the other questions by saying:

For all other questions, my answer is this: You are not authorized by Article 1, Section 2 to ask for any more information other than number of persons at this house, regardless of any law or government agency rule, as the US Constitution trumps any laws of Congress, or any federal agency rules and regulations. Any attempts to coerce or intimidate me to answer more than is required by the Constitution, and any individuals that threaten fines or jail time if I do not answer such unConstitutional questions, will cause me to immediately contact local law enforcement authorities (sheriff), our local district attorney, and our state attorney general, to prosecute any federal agent involved with such threats.

All I did was tell them the # of people living in my household & gave them my full name.

I hope I didn’t tell them too much.
