America's Political Crisis
American Thinker ^ | 3-17-10 | Deborah B. Sloan

It seems that every other day, one hears of another "crisis" that must be dealt with immediately -- by government expansion. Examples include everything from swine flu to global warming to the rising cost of health care. We are warned that we need the government to protect us. We are asked to sacrifice. We are told that there is no time to think, and we must act immediately -- Washington will do the thinking for us.

The real crisis is within the government itself.

FDR: "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself"

RR: "If you're afraid of the future, then get out of the way, stand aside. The people of this country are ready to move again."

BHO: "Be very afraid of everything except government by me."

Good column. My only criticism is the thinly veiled libertarian centered hand wringing over what constitutes a moral government.

Our Founders put forth the moral basis of government in our Declaration of Independence, "That to secure these (unalienable) Rights, Governments are instituted among Men." The only legitimate purpose of our government is to protect our God given Natural Rights; among them is our right to property. We are on the precipice of a dictatorial government because we, the people have forgotten this.

“And since it produces nothing, the only way a government can distribute wealth to some citizens is by first taking that wealth by force from those who have produced it&rdquo”

Greedy and unscrupulous people (answerable to NO ONE) have hijacked the system of government in the United States. It was a long time coming and we now have (never mind the stock market) GOVERNMENT in free fall. The world is holding its breath. THEY know what is happening because THEY have been through the whole scenario.

The population of this country have become increasingly, wards of the state and like spoiled children, coerce as well as fear their “parent”. This is a precarious and unwholesome situation for any government and for any society.

Responsible individuals put down skid marks distancing themselves from this Administration and from association with its policies. YET, here we are on the verge of having something NO ONE WANTS or APPROVES forced into law. WTF!!!!!

We ARE now a socialist government... in the sense that we regard government in the paternalistic way just as serfs, and then later, post revolutionary Russians felt toward their leaders. Whether it is the Czar of the politburo, paternalism toward the citizens (subjects) is typical if this kind of tyranny…and so is the lazy and apathetic acceptance of it on the part of governed.

The people with the most at stake in the society are just the element which is being betrayed, and yes, betrayal is what it is.
