Don Imus, for one, is not surprised by Tom Hanks' recent comments calling WWII and the War on Terrorism racist crusades undertaken by the United States.

First brought to his attention by "Imus in the Morning" producer Bernard McGuirk on the show, the remarks were news to the host - just not shocking news.

"Oh darn, what a surprise. We have another panty-wearing liberal dickweed from Hollywood - of course!" Imus told McGuirk.

McGuirk dubbed Hanks "Tehran Tom" for remarks the actor made March 5 on-set of MSNBC to promote "The Pacific," the HBO mini-series he helped produce.

I am not interested in watching this Series at all and I am a history enthusiast.

So am I and it pains me to see what those effete b*stards in Hollywood are trying to do to the reputations of these great WWII guys - I hate to imagine what those who are still alive must be thinking.

It took me a white to respond because I had to take this all in and think.

One of my mother's first cousins, Dominick, was a POW in a Japanese Labor camp in Asia somewhere. When he was rescued (just in time because in the camp just a few miles from his the Japanese were trying to remove the prisoners for execution) he was ,70 lbs. At 5 foot 8 inches in height, he was severely emaciated. It took him a year to recover.

He died about 10 years ago in his early eighties. He never complained to anyone about his experience. As far as I could tell, he led a happy life though he never married and had a family of his own. I did not know the full story of his ordeal until after his death.

This is the real life story Mr. Hanks and Mr. Spielberg will never tell about WWII. Shame on them!
