It’s not treasonous to merely think about or consider doing what Slaughter apparently thought about here. Terrible idea, sure. An affront to our Constitutional republic if attempted? Of course. Worthy of expulsion from the Congress? Perhaps. But a legislator merely CONSIDERING (or even proposing) such a course of action is simply not Treason. The Constitution has a precise definition of Treason that does not fit here (not to mention that, to a great extent, the Speech and Debate clause immunizes Congressfolk for even the very worst ideas)
