I apologize if I don't respond to replies right away, typing this has been very difficult. I'm going to go lay down for a short nap and hopefully dream of Sasha playing with her toys in doggy heaven.

Thanks for listening.

My deepest sympathies to you and yours on the passing of Sasha. Beautiful dog.

I am now on my third cat; when the first two passed, I cried like a baby. I didn’t cry as much when relatives and friends died. Is that sick or what?

Our animals are wonderful creatures. They don’t care if we have combed our hair or waited to take a shower till afternoon. They love us unconditionally.

I’m so sorry for your loss. :(

I’ll bet Sasha is waiting for you and your hubby at the Rainbow Bridge....then you can enter heaven together.

You don’t have to reply at all. Just know that many of us have stood where you stand today, and pray for the day when the pain is less and you can remember her with joy.

Sasha is up in doggy heaven, for sure, but she's trying to figure out how to cheer you up. She won't be able to muster any interest in her new toys until you do. Try to do it for her.

Looking at the pics reminded me of the black baby we lost last August.

I'm glad you have Petey to help you get through it.

Prayers for you and your family. Those of us here on FR understand your pain and loss. Most of us here have furry children and have experienced the type of grief you are going through. You’re right, she probably is playing with her toys in Doggie heaven. I for one am a firm believer that it is no coincidence Dog is God spelled backwards.

When my daughter passed I “inherited” her kitty. Ivan was a big tabby that was easy-going and affectionate. Although we both knew that I wasn’t his human he warmed up to me and we became friends.

Recently he became ill. Something called FIP. I spent over a thousand dollars trying to nurse him back to health but he kept drifting further away. I finally had to end it two weeks ago.

Personally, I think he died of a broken heart.

You are so right, Brytani. They don’t live long enough. I’m so sorry you lost your Sasha. It’s a sad time, I know.

We lost our two sheps last year and it was really tough. I would look at their toys, their dishes, their favorite spots in the house and would start crying. Everything made me cry. The house was just so empty without them.

Take care, my friend. Now, I’m crying just writing this to you.

I am sorry about your dog.

We have a 12 year old Snowshoe cat who is the house princess. She is sleeping more and more and sometimes doesn’t feel good. For her age, though, she is perky and in decent health. In the last few years, I have realized that even she will be gone in possibly just a couple of years, and when she does, the house just will not be the same.

My husband, the who once proclaimed he was not a cat person, really gets down when I tell him how old she is. She is his shadow.

Dogs come to us and wiggle their way into our heart so quickly, it is sad and hard to have them leave us. There is no way to not be broken hearted about it. Simply go immediately and find another dog to rescue. It is the greatest tribute you can give your dog that left.

Recently my vet .. said to me that my dog that is a 3 1/2 year old poodle might have an inflamed pancreas. He said, that most of his practice came from people feeding their dogs human food. To much fat. I didn't, but he loves to eat nuts. which I must keep away from him.

About 3 years ago my 14 year old poodle died after a brief few days (kidney trouble) at 5:30 in the morning; and I am convinced it might have been a case where the dog food was contaminated then (with plastic from China).

That same day at noon, we went to the SPCA sure enough there was a 13 month old poodle that had been brought in the afternoon , before waiting for us. Thank You God.

We grieved; but it was easier ... finding a dog to rescue.

God bless you.

Puppy dogs are heart-thieves... I am so sorry for your loss. After losing one special puppy angel, I swore I’d never get another pup, but we have two now... Hopefully, we will see them again one day.

The Power of the Dog

There is sorrow enough in the natural way
From men and women to fill our day;
And when we are certain of sorrow in store,
Why do we always arrange for more?
Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear.

Buy a pup and your money will buy
Love unflinching that cannot lie—
Perfect passsion and worship fed
By a kick in the ribs or a pat on the head.
Nevertheless it is hardly fair
To risk your heart to a dog to tear.

When the fourteen years which Nature permits
Are closing in asthma, or tumour, or fits,
And the vet’s unspoken prescription runs
To lethal chambers or loaded guns,
Then you will find—it’s your own affair—
But ... you’ve given your heart to a dog to tear.

When the body that lived at your single will,
With its whimper of welcome, is stilled (how still!)
When the spirit that answered your every mood
Is gone—wherever it goes—for good,
You will discover how much you care,
And will give your heart to a dog to tear.

We’ve sorrow enough in the natural way,
When it comes to burying Christian clay.
Our loves are not given, but only lent,
At compound interest of cent per cent.

Though it is not always the case, I believe,
That the longer we’ve kept ‘em, the more do we grieve:
For, when debts are payable, right or wrong,
A short-term loan is as bad as a long—
So why in—Heaven (before we are there)
Should we give our hearts to a dog to tear?

“I'm going to go lay down for a short nap and hopefully dream of Sasha playing with her toys in doggy heaven.”

We know that is exactly what sweet Sasha is doing in heaven. She is playing and smiling and she hopes you will think of her that way to ease your tears away.

We are thinking of you and Dave and sending hugs.
