Get some legal representation that has not been involved with your cases so far.
Sounds like a bill of attainder now that it’s on record to be targeting only 4 to 6 people in the state.
You can also find some media allies here, point out the state is curtailing sunshine laws and FOIA laws in a tyrannical attempt to destroy the 1st amendment rights of the people and the professionals who want open and honest government. Someone on those islands will have interest piqued if they see that angle as a good headliner.
I’m a legal moron. I don’t know any of the terminology and I’m actually not involved in any cases because I can’t afford an attorney to represent me. I’m also not from Hawaii, which is the big complaint they’ve made in newspaper articles. Their laws say that “any person” has access to their records, but they hate it that people outside Hawaii are asking for records.
But for them to be making these drastic moves it should put red flags up for everybody. You don’t get rid of your open records law in order to punish 4-6 people.
Anybody with ideas of what needs to happen, I’m all ears.
