Posted on 03/02/2010 8:37:32 AM PST by Fester2010

Ron Paul has been one of America’s articulate advocates of a constitutional republic in the United State Congress. Dr. Paul supports abolishing the Federal Reserve and ending the income tax. He also favors replacing the entitlement programs with and charities, and creating real, sustainable prosperity built on a foundation of savings and investments.

I find myself baffled why some conservatives seem to hate Paul. I don't agree with everything he says nor would I agree with Limbaugh 100%. At this point I'm more flexible than before. I'd support almost any GOP nominee as long as he or she is not a statist like Obama.

“I find myself baffled why some conservatives seem to hate Paul.”

It’s easy. When you deal with Paulistinains on a regular basis, and all of their caustic remarks because you dare believe the nation is worth defending and that illegal drugs ought to stay that way, you learn to despise that which they idolize. I actually agree with Ron Paul more than I disagree with him however the things on which we disagree will get a lot of Americans killed.

Ron Paul isn’t battling for “the soul of America”.

He might be battling Frank Rich for the “soul of that small percentage of Ron Paul supporters who believe in the mission of Code Pink”, but he isn’t battling for the “soul of America”.

He isn’t that important or influential.

I don't think anyone here on FR totally disagrees with Ron Paul on everything, but quite frankly the guy presents himself as an annoying gnat. The Ernest T. Bass of conservative politics.

When Paul in a GOP debate says America is at fault for the 9/11 attack, I forget real easy that this guy has a good position on what to do with the IRS.
Also, He and most of his supporters are also what I call “Scorched Earth Libertarians”. They would rather see Omaba get a second term than to vote for anyone in the GOP not quite as far right as Ron Paul. Even Sarah Palin is too far to the center for them. That is where the biggest problem we have with Paul is.

How can anybody trust libertarians when their favorite
“son” loads up legislation that he knows will pass and
gives the pork while giggling “I voted against it.”?

Well, since you asked ........

IMHO, a conservative in America needs to have all three of the Ronald Reagan “legs of the stool” to win elections. Ron Paul and Libertarians have FATAL policy flaws in each of these.

National Security/Defense Conservative – Ron Paul has said (paraphrase), 'the real fault for this terror attack lies with the United States for provoking al Qaeda by "occupying their land"'. Nuff said.

Social/Morally Conservative – Libertarians don’t want any restrictions on behavior, including moral ones. They don’t want the Ten Commandments and don’t consider the U.S. a Christian nation.

Fiscally Conservative – yes, libertarians are for small government and this is their best 'leg', but that didn’t stop Ron Paul from being an earmark aficionado which he can’t explain away.

Bottom line, Libertarians have some conservative positions.
Libertarians have some liberal positions.
Libertarians have some extra-terrestial positions.

No Paul. No Libertarians hijacking the conservative Tea Party movement or Sarah Palin.

Ping. Feel free to add additional thoughts as to why conservatives ‘seem to hate’ L. Ron Paul (or his ‘traulls’).

Oh, goody. Another Paulbot newbie posting Paulspam.

This is the TRAULL method. They are all about infiltratring the conservative cause. Swarming and spamming

And, are you kidding me? Ron Paul endorsed that leftie Kokesh.

Ron Paul is no friend to conservatives. Ron Paul is all about Ron Paul.

Forget Paul or you won't be here long enough to fester fester.

Paul is a raving antiwar surrender monkey lunatic.

And that is on a good day.

Wow. Looking at this and other posts that are quite nasty I can only say the following in reply to all of them.

1) My concern is that some conservatives would be more likely to support Obama than Paul should he win the nomination. While that proposition is a long shot it is certainly more likely after the CPAC landslide.

2) As someone that is actually in the middle on foreign policy although leaning non interventionist I see good points on both sides of the issue. However, even Paul supports an electronic fence to protect the borders of the United States. This technology exists and is cost effective. Unfortunately Bush did not support it and neither does Obama. Bottom line, they can’t kill us if they can’t come here. Before we continue to bankrupt the country in endless wars why not protect Americans first. To use a football analogy, we have been all offense but weak on defense.

3) On economics Paul was 100% correct while all of the other Republicans running made idiots of themselves. He accurately predicted the collapse of the economy during the debates while other big government Republicans snickered with maybe the exception of Tancredo who happened to be the only other conservative running.

Maybe if other Republicans adopted Paul’s economic policies which are the essense of Conservatism then there wouldn’t be these debates over foreign policy. Still, Wilsonian nation building isn’t conservative either. Avoid conflict but when it is needed destroy the enemy and get out.

4) I am hardly a Paulbot although I like him. I would also support Michelle Bachmann if she ran. Palin while I like her hasn’t used the tremendous opportunity she has had to hit hard on a quite many issues so I am having doubts about her ability to move forward a conservative agenda but I wouldn’t hessitate to vote for her over Obama.

LOL. Oh my! A classic seminar response! Concern. 'You're Nasty'. 'You're supporting 0bama'. Obfuscation (that means changing the topic TRAULLS). Denial. Wild claims that their guy is 100% correct!

Since Mitt is such the businessman, do you think he has possibly created a 'business unit' within his establishment that has sold outsourcing seminars to train Paulbots in the Romulan ways?! The methods are eerily similar!

I do and I'm not alone. His dishonesty and traitorous truther-ism make nonsense of any topic he may speak on. I do not agree with idiocy. May I remind you and others who claim to agree with him re smaller government and less spending, that in all his years in congress he has accomplished NADA in these areas. In fact, he has delivered the expected earmarks for his own district. And that is ALL.

My friend, there is no "there there" and you mis-speak when you place Ron Paul in conservative politics.

LOL - Paul will not win the nomination.

And your accusation that any of us would ever support Obama goes right along with the Paulbot talking points.

Am I going to have to post my RonPaul Acolyte Glossary again?
