Mike Nesmith was one of The Monkees, that manufactured band from the mid and late 60's. After the band folded, Mike went solo with two bands and had some minor hits. In 1977, he produced an obscure song titled 'Rio', a song which never even made it into the Top 40, and if the truth be told, not many people would even remember having heard. What sequence of events, perhaps even coincidences, make this song one of the most influential songs of the modern music era, and gives Mike Nesmith a claim to fame way more important than the one everybody usually mentions whenever his name comes up.
