Folks and Friends at Free Republic
I just wanted to inform you that one of the computers I have at home has COMPUTER ASSOCIATES' SECURITY CENTER installed on it as part of the package I have with my recent Internet and cable service provider -- CABLEVISION.
This is the CA SECURITY CENTER VERSION 4.0.0.205
Now, everytime I try to access FR on this computer, it blocks me with the following reason :

I have to override it by entering an administrative password to temporarily allow the FR site to go through my browser.
Out of curiosity, I tried going to the DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND site and lo and behold, the CA Parental Control software ALLOWED the site with no problems.
Just wanted you people to be aware of this double standard.
For crying out loud. Why are you guys in such a tail spin because someone saw curse words used on FR that you didn’t?
She’s made it clear that she knows that FR doesn’t approve of it.
All she did was state that she’s seen it here, and she has, and so have I. It’s often the reason for deleted posts, which means if the mods deleted it, they must agree that it’s profanity, or they wouldn’t have done it.
FReepers are human, too, and trolls show up to try to discredit FR.
You guys are not accurately representing what she’s said.
Read her posting history. Not a DUer.
Her having seen curse words on FR does not mean she’s from DU.
Talk is cheap! Anyone from DU can come over here and make claims, if it happens so much, there must be a lot of evidence for it, just peruse any of today’s threads and show me one , just one where you find the C, F, S, GD or even B words in it. Finding one of two examples in one or two threads out of thousands does not constitute generalizing that profanity is the rule over here.
Research my posting history and you will see. I am a pastors wife and a pastors daughter. I was taught not to curse or use useless language. I have a different standard for what I consider profanity. I love FR but some of the posters on FR are crude. Not just in their word usage but also in the pictures and comments they post. I am not complaining about it but was just poinitng out that your original post was untrue. You can find profanity on FR.
Not true, I've had some posts deleted, and I don't use profanity, and I've hit the abuse button on posts that didn't contain profanity.
I NEVER stated that profanity was the RULE over here. I stated that you can FIND profanity on FR and I proved that you can FIND profanity on FR. I already stated that I have RARELY seen the F or S words but that I have seen them. Again, I proved to you that the words a**, d***, b**** have been used in the titles of threads and I am not going to spend any more time searching things for you that I have already proven. Stop misrepresenting my posts. You seem to have a logical disconnect. Are you from DU?
A quick google search of the offending word and the term *free republic* will provide you with all links you need.

Not to mention the number of homepages which come up as sources for the curse words......
I didn’t say that all deleted posts contain profanity.
All I said was that if the offending post contained profanity and someone hit the abuse button on it, the mods would delete it, thus agreeing that it was profanity.
Get a grip. What are you so bent out of shape for? Nobody accused you of anything.

You are not being completely honest, you are misrepresenting my posts and attacking my character and now you are using partial quotes to insinuate that someone else is a liar. I am done talking to you. You can’t win a debate with someone that won’t be honest when the facts are presented to them.
I’ve seen some hateful posts here but DU runs rampant with that sort of thing. I tried to read DU for a short spell a few years ago but it was like peering into an insane asylum for far-left Democrats.

In your Christian worldview I suppose yes some words that you consider profanity may be used more on FR and are more accepted in today's permissive society, whereas words that I consider profanity are generally just not tolerated on FR.
Thank you metmom. I was unsure of how to search out individual posts. I love FR and spend way too much time on here. All I was pointing out was that chris’ orginal post about there being no profanity on FR was incorrect. It doesn’t mean I don’t love FR. I am a conservative, I don’t let my feeling get in the way of the truth. I love my husband too but he isn’t perfect either.

Metmom provided you with some links to the s word on FR. So now you can take it back that we are both liars.
Someone told me that the best way to search for something on FR is to do a google search of the term you’re looking for and the words *free republic*. I do that to find out whether articles have been posted on FR or not, since FR’s search engine works so well.
Anyway, when you do a google search, if you click on where it says *cache* in the link you’re looking at, it’ll highlight the words you’ve searched for so they’re easier to find instead of reading through the whole thread and every post on it.
I typed in the words *homeschool free republic and got these links....

They are still considered profanity, whether a lot of little.
Just because someone doesn’t see anything wrong with them much any more, is irrelevant. One’s personal opinion doesn’t de-profane them.
I’ve seen increasing profanity on FR; only been to DU a couple of times (very quick!) a few years ago. It was incredibly bad there.
I think the general tenor of civil discourse has degraded even more of late; with the screaming nosedive off into the abyss culturally, and the insanity of having a marxist racist muslim-loving homsoexual usurper thug liar in the White House, plus the economic crash which is still going to get a lot worse - people use words that they didn’t much use before.
At least that’s the way I see it. And I am guilty myself sometimes... This thread is reminding me to express myself without using profanity.
Let's be honest. Some have posted foul language on Free Republic. Usually, it's reported and the comment is removed. I've noticed similar incidents involving racist comments and "over the top" attacks on lefties.
Unfortunately, some lack self control and cannot express an idea (or cope with others disagreeing with their ideas) without cussing or partaking in other adolescent behavior.
However, we do ourselves no favors by denying its existence. All chsm-o-3 tried to do was to speak the truth.
To the poster who referenced DU's diatribes against Mr Cheney: do you want FR to behave like DU? I certainly don't.
All it takes is one to prove that we're not lying.
It's not my assumption that posts deleted for profanity were deleted for some other reason. It was clear what they were deleted for.
which leads me to believe that you and your sister are going out of your way to smear FR as a profanity laced site worthy of hate site status, when you have very little evidence to back up your claims, a few examples out of millions of posts simply does not make it so, sorry!
