CA Parental Control Software Blocks FR as HATE site but allows DU site to go through

I just wanted to inform you that one of the computers I have at home has COMPUTER ASSOCIATES' SECURITY CENTER installed on it as part of the package I have with my recent Internet and cable service provider -- CABLEVISION.

This is the CA SECURITY CENTER VERSION 4.0.0.205

Now, everytime I try to access FR on this computer, it blocks me with the following reason :

I have to override it by entering an administrative password to temporarily allow the FR site to go through my browser.

Out of curiosity, I tried going to the DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND site and lo and behold, the CA Parental Control software ALLOWED the site with no problems.

Just wanted you people to be aware of this double standard.

If you have "seen little of the words" you consider profane, you've still seen "some (few)" profane words. As I said, such posts are usually reported and deleted

Nope I've never seen the 'F' word here, once or twice the 'S' word, don't ever remember seeing the 'C' word or GD word. If they were ever used and deleted that only makes my point that this language is not tolerated here.

Thanks for taking up for me but I did say plenty. I didn’t mean FR was overrun but just that I have seen several people post profanity and I have. I guess we need to define plenty. I don’t mean plenty as in a majority. I have just seen lots of different people using them. But to me one is too many since Jim Robinson doesn’t want people to use them on his site.

“Hate” as defined by liberals has nothing to do with cuss words. THEY define the words that constitute “hate”. And those words have to do with liberal victim groups. If you speak against one of their pet groups you're a hater. If they speak against our pet groups - or if they use obscenities - they're defined as cool.

I mostly can’t understand much of what you post because you use one * for all letters and make no distinction between letters so it makes your posts like someone who hjas no idea how to spell. The only word I consider a real curse word is f*¢! outside of that the rest you hear on TV nowdays.Some of you lead very sheltered lives.

You HAVE seen profanity on FR, after so viciously attacking christianhomeschoolmommaof3 and slandering her and assassinating her character because she said she saw some and you initially disagreed that it ever existed on FR, cause you (in your own words in post 43 of this thread) "No, FR doesn't allow profanity over here, I have never seen the S word, the F word or even G-damn, occasionally I see a-hole or the abbreviated B.S. ,and I don't really consider hell a cuss word."

So, which is it?

Are you joking? No way! I feel like I need a shower after visiting the site when someone links to it. I see no point in misrepresenting the facts. There are people on FR that use curse words. It isn’t like over at DU but it also isn’t true that you will never see curse words on FR.

If the profanity is very bad the comment is usually pulled. Also, FR has a rule against using profanity, DU does not. The amount of profanity at DU is about 1000 times over and above anything I have ever seen on FR. If you don't believe that then go to DU and check it out. They use the F word as an adjective, verb, pronoun, noun and adverb.

And I never said they’re weren’t posted, I said I’ve never seen them because as a rule this site doesn’t tolerate them, my original post was because I felt there was an implication that they were.

There are people on FR that use curse words. It isn’t like over at DU but it also isn’t true that you will never see curse words on FR.

And it's also true that if you object to profanity, you can call a Moderator and usually have a comment deleted or, at the least, have the poster warned.

Profanity is rare here because we self monitor.

As for anyone blocking FR but allowing DU - that's enough evidence for me to know that whoever is making that judgment is, for lack of a better word, evil.

So why would you associate with people like that?

Exactly but it looks like the church ladies have come out to pronounce judgemnet upon the whole place? I find that this place is one of the better behaved sites I’ve ever been to that allowed discussion of politics but I guess you can’t please everyone. Some really do live very sheltered lives I guess?

Will you stop posting me links to profanity, I said you can find exceptions, EXCEPTIONS dear lady, there's always exceptions to every rule, as a rule profanity is not to be tolerated on FR.

That even means yes out of millions of posts and thousands of posters, they'll no doubt be some that sneak through, it just might be due to the diligence of the mods that I personally haven't seen what I consider to be profanity ridden posts.

Essentially, you said you have seen plenty of people using profanity on FR and he said not true, but can’t do that because he would have to know exactly what you have seen. He was basically saying that you were lying about what you saw.

A simpler reaction could have been, “That’s odd, I haven’t seen them” instead of going into orbit and accusing you of all kinds of things that simply were not true.

I am glad that I am sheltered. If your standard of language is what you hear on tv then I can understand why you don’t think that posters on FR use profanity. BTW, movie ratings that warn of profanity don’t always have the f-word in them.
