Today Politico reports that Congressional Democrats plan to push for the entire Obamacare monstrosity starting next week. The idea is to create a no-lose situation for the Democrats and stop the negative momentum and plummeting fortunes of the Democrats.
How? Well, if Obamacare passes the Left will be re-energized. Rahm Emanuel believes that the reason the Dems are struggling is because they have not forced through health care "reform" with their large majorities in both Houses of Congress. It is inconceivable, to Rahm, that the issue is that Americans understand and hate this "reform" bill.
If the bill does not pass, then the Democrats feel (the never believe, they only feel) that the Republicans can be painted as the face of obstruction. One small problem with this harebrained plan . . .
A new CNN poll shows that only 25% of Americans want this plan to pass. So let me get this straight: the only reason Dems are struggling is because they have not rammed through a deeply unpopular plan that infuriated Conservatives and Independents? By forcing it through on party-line votes (never done before on groundbreaking legislation) the American people will thank them in November?
Has it occurred to Rahm that if this Obama healthcare plan were popular, and then it failed next week because of those obstructionist Republicans, people might ask why the Dems did not pass this bill when they had 60 Senators? In other words, wouldn't people likely focus not on the minority party, but on the glaring incompetence of Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Majority Leader Harry Reid in marshaling through this legislation?
Great plan! Thank you for the Republican majority to come, Rahm!

YES THEY R
Hmmm... a few thousands are going to need to personally deliver the public opinion to these clowns..one at a time...with tar...and feathers....
I guess it will be the night of long knifes if they pass it.
Repeal ObamaCare! Save grandma!
Makes a nice bumper sticker.
“O” and the Liberals turned the most intimate and basic aspect of American private life into a grotesque political football.
That Liberals even presume America will swallow whole this clandestinely contrived and fraudulently represented proposition is a howling insult to us as individuals and to America as a nation.
Obamacare- Bureaucracy to die for.
Cram it down our throats, we’ll kill you with our votes.
And nobody gives a rat’s butt abvout a “Republican” majority.
The Dems would be okay with a Repub majority. What they will get is conservative majority.
How can abortion be “a private matter”, but every other aspect of “healthcare” is free for government intervention? Seems kind of contradictory to me.
Sorry. The “Left” is more like 30%+ of the vote. The Democrats could openly idolize Marx, Lenin, Stalin (in addition to Mao, Castro, and Che whom they already idolize) and issue the Communist Manifesto as its Party platform and they would get that segment of the vote.
Agree, Congressmen with a D by their name will be knocking themselves over rushing to the mikes to say they want to spend more time with their family.
Yes, how will abortion be dealt with under the desired “online medical records” push?
Notice also how “anti-choice” they are when it comes to who PAYS for abortions.
Is this a trick question?
LET THEM!
I want to watch the implosion of the Dems in Novemeber, as well as send Carville an email asking “How’s that 40 more years of Democratic Party dominance working out for ya idiot prophet of unicorn and rainbow dreams?”

Rename, repackage, rewrite it a tad smaller, and sell another pig in a poke.
Tennessee has joined several other states in trying to pass a Health Care Freedom Act. NO COLAs for granny, retired Military or retired fed employees. BIG NEW fees for Tricare for Life retired over 65 Military's secondary health ins. (DOD bill already passed, delayed but goes into effect 2011)

TRI CARE FOR LIFE This from a google search:

This option would help reduce the costs of TFL, as well as costs for Medicare, by introducing minimum out-of pocket requirements for beneficiaries. Under this option, TFL would not cover any of the first $525 of an enrollees cost-sharing liabilities for calendar year 2011 and would limit coverage to 50 percent of the next $4,725 in Medicare cost sharing that the beneficiary incurred. (Because all further cost sharing would be covered by TFL, enrollees could not pay more than $2,888 in cost sharing in that year.)

Congress plans to block Tricare fee increases
http://www.armytimes.com/news/2009/10/military_tricarefees_blocked_100709w
By Rick Maze - Staff writer, Oct 7, 2009
Tricare fee increases imposed last week by the Defense Department will be repealed by a provision of the compromise 2010 defense authorization bill unveiled Wednesday by House and Senate negotiators.
Snip
The fee increases were announced on Sept. 30 and took effect on Oct. 1, but the defense bill, HR 2647, includes a provision barring any fee increases until the start of fiscal 2011.
Snip
Retired Army Maj. Gen. Bill Matz, president of the National Association for Uniformed Services, said the announcement of fee increases was shocking considering that the Obama administration promised earlier this year to hold off on any new fee Tricare fee increases until fiscal 2011.
President Obama and DoD assured NAUS and the entire military family earlier this year that there would rightly be no increases in any Tricare fees in fiscal 2010, Matz said. We took them at their word, and I cant believe that a co-pay increase like this was allowed to go forward, he added.

Funny-—
I didn’t read the cited piece, but in the last hour or so,
I’ve come to pretty much the same conclusion: looking at the ongoing arrogrance displayed against the Republican opposition, considering how many times the messages “come on, you know you wanna”, “there are a lot of things we agree on, so let’s just pass the whole thing....” etc. etc.
I cannot help but believe that in about 45 minutes, it’s going to be the private consensus among the Dems to go right ahead and push it down our throats come next week.
I never thought it would happen, but I do now.
I thought they’d put it on the back burner, turned very low,
and waited maybe for an entire year to bring it out front again, once SOMETHING ELSE had been managed successfully.
I guess in their heart of hearts they instinctively know now that NOTHING is going to re-establish any measure of goodwill with the American people, so they are just going to go ahead and PRETEND to be doing it FOR the American People.
If they do the reconciliation, it will be their undoing, and the undoing will come QUICKLY.
It will likely prove the tipping point, and
will be end-times for them.
NO ONE will sit still for this: his disapproval will balloon to 75% and both he and the Dem majority will
be in a world of hurt they can’t even imagine.
If there is ANYTHING that will guarantee massive Dem losses
come November, THAT will be it.
