Generation Zero Docu on Hannity Says Liberalism and Baby Boomers Are Cause of US Financial Meltdown

The Generation Zero Documentary—first previewed at the Tea Party Convention and CPAC—on Hannity last night confirmed that liberalism and the Baby Boomer generation were indeed the cause of the US financial meltdown, not to mention the worst recession since the Depression in the US. The brainchild of Steve Bannon and Dave Bossie, Generation Zero wasn't screened in its entirety on Hannity, but was broken down into several segments which were then analyzed in specific detail by Hannity and its creators. A pejorative reference to the Baby Boomer Generation that came of age in the drug-fueled and "If it feels good, do it" 60s, Generation Zero persuasively connects the dots between a dilapidation of both social and cultural values in the US that ultimately paved the way for the financial meltdown of 2008 and beyond.

Virtue and vice are properties of individuals, not of groups of people according to birth date. The concept of group guilt was one practiced by the early Bolsheviks with their emphasis on proletarian birth. The mindset rightfully belongs to Bolsheviks, not conservatives.

I found the piece kind of revolting and insulting.

“liberalism and the Baby Boomer generation were indeed the cause of the US financial meltdown”

Most of the baby boom post WWII generation are hard working, entrepreneurial, patriotic and family oriented. We are the generation that was betrayed by the leftists and the political class. The people responsible for the financial meltdown are the politicians, the MSM and the arrogant government bureaucrats who are destroying the greatest economy in the history of the world.

I thought the show made some interesting points. One of the more interesting points was the difference in personal risks faced between partnerships (which in the past ruled Wall Street) and today’s corporations.

I have to say I got a laugh where the writer lauded the return to 1950s values. BUT THAT’S WHEN THE EVIL BOOMERS WERE GETTING THEIR WORLDVIEW IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!! :)

I was able to see a little of the program last night and what I saw made some good points. But the good points could have been made without the crude scapegoating based on the date on one’s birth certificate.

The “greatest generation” is the one that came home and then broke the piggy bank voting for every expansion of the welfare state. By the time the boomers were of voting age the damage was long done.

Duck & cover! Memorization of all kinds of things! Hand me downs! Moms at home! Dads and working men working all kinds of hours because no living was ‘guaranteed’! Paper routes! Lemonade stands! No fast food! 10 or 12” B&W TVs! Party lines on telephones! The horror!

re #2: Excellent post. Seems as though some PC perversion crept into the Hannity piece.

Once again, as in the GoreBull warming cult, denial of the truth prevails as society defies to hold individuals to the virtues of self accountability. The philosophical notion wasn't targeted as to one of the largest influences to the reprecussions of society's own ills.

I agree, here is what I think happened. WWI and WW2 sent millions of Americans to Europe, and those soldiers brought back with them socialist ideas, and a degraded moral compass. Prior to those wars it would of been very unusual for anyone in America to have even left his state much less traveled to Europe.

A sniveling liberal attempt to force all people born during this time into the same cheap mold. Not all baby boomers are sniveling, lazy liberals.

While I will admit I did not see the broadcast I’m in complete agreement that we should not fall into the trap of painting a whole generation of people with such a broad brush. At this point it really is counterproductive to splinter ourselves for the purposes of an elixir for our current woes. If anything, we need to come together on a generational basis to repair the damage done to our great nation.

Yup. You can lead a horse to water, but...
My 2nd oldest daughter was taught and shown fiscal responsibility. In one ear and out the other. Pisses her money away, lots of credit card debt. Oh well. I told her not to bother coming to me when she’s broke.

Pointing a finger at an entire generation and shouting “Guilty” is similar in tactics used by the communists when they blamed the kulaks for the problems in 1917 Russia. Baby boomers didn’t achieve group voting power until 1980, and they voted overwhelmingly for Reagan.

These two so-called filmakers need to go back to the cutting room and snip this propaganda to pieces.

Exactly...the greatest generation is living off the money we pay into entitlements. Without the “zero” generation, SS and Medicare would be broke.

IMO, the greatest generation is “addicted” to entitlements and use their voting bloc as a sort of blackmail everytime a politician mentions cutting entitlements.

My oldest daughter threatened to enlist because she did not like the rules at home. I called her bluff by driving her to the Army Recruiter's office. She called my bluff by enlisting. She did a tour in Iraq, lived through a couple of IED attacks (one of them left a scar that extends from just off the corner of her mouth, up her cheek and across her eyebrow) and is now home. She has as much as admitted that given the choice again, my rules were not really that bad.

Oh, please! Don’t paint my whole Baby Boomer generation with a broad brush! That would be like racism! Waaaaaaaaaa! The author is biased and is stereotyping us! Waaaaaaaaaa!

The author’s right. And where there’s much pride, dishonesty and mouthiness, there is weakness. May the young folks now get as tough as nails and get back to the better ways of our ancestors.
