Miss Serviss needs to go the extra mile and understand what she is talking about. This is no trivial matter.
There is a deep and abiding chasm between the efete snobbery of liberalism and the honest sincerity of Palin. Serviss has dusted off the surface of her own prejudice. now she needs to peer deeply at her own reflection.
Friedman, who's appeared in several TV shows, thought the scene was funny.
Just saying.... I haven't seen the episode myself.
************
The scene was not funny. It is a simple matter to bamboozle a Down’s syndrome person into being pleasant about an insult. They are naturally positive and trusting.
The segment was intended as a snide slap at Palin and her child, plain and simple. It succeeded as a slap in the face of the program and its producer. It crossed the line of common decency. Look for ratings to plummet.
I agree the kids should be off limits, but when politicians use them as props in their PR machinations they invite scrutiny. The Obamas do it with the girls and Palin did it every time she trotted Trig out during her book tour.
She can’t win with you: If she’d left her kids back in Alaska, she’d be abandoning them and an unfit mother, but if they travel with her, she’s using them as props. Misogynist much?
I would qualify that by saying if the kid chooses to enter the public forum themselves then they're fair game. Trig Palin is off-limits, Meghan McCain is not.
Plus, Miss McCain is not a child, she’s an adult.
The Bush girls are adults. Chelsea Clinton is an adult. As long as they are pursuing private lives I think they should be left alone; child, teen, or adult.
So to you there were only two options...leave ‘em back home or trot them out on stage every stop as political props?
I’m tired of talking to Palinistas, it’s like debating with children.
Miss McCain is not pursuing a private life, those others are. However, when Chelsea was campaigning for her mother as an adult, she was fair game.
Did I somehow force you to post to this thread? There's a lot more of us than there are Paulestinians and Romneybots. Since you've been here since the Ninties, why don't you go complain to the Mods that an uppity 2006 FReeper is not showing you all the respect you deserve?
Andrea Friedman is just plain stupid.
Not funny Ms Friedman.
Watch it, you’re really beginning to expose yourself as the libtard you are.
What? What would the left say if she left Trig with a nanny?
She was being paid. Supporting Sarah Palin's position against the Hollywood Left might have jeopardized her getting more work.
Now, let me ask you, and I ask this as a person who knows several Downs Syndrome adults and likes their sweet ways and good humor, do you really think a Downs Syndrome person is best qualified to judge if this was funny or not? Think about that.
No harsh judgment, no ridicule or any type of bad thoughts have gone into that question, nothing but reality. Do you think for one minute that they didn't use this girl to do the voice just because they knew no one would question her mental ability to judge the humor of this skit? I call that the lowest of the low, the epitome of scumism.
“Im tired of talking to Palinistas”
You’re back already.
LOL. You seem to bring Palin up every waking moment.
“...any lov’n is good lov’n...”
Keep up the love.
SARAH IS A MOTHER! She doesn’t use day-care or nannies like you effete liberal jerks. SHE is raising her child. That is why she has him with her. She is taking the responsibility of her children on her own shoulders and at the same time trying to help America find its way.
