First allow me to point out that obesity is not an epidemic, as obesity is not transferred from person to person in the way that, say, the flu is. Michelle takes the liberal usage of the word, an attempt to change its meaning in order to more easily confiscate taxpayer dollars in order to prevent what is for most people an easily preventable outcome. This becomes clear immediately:

Some of the goals include ending what Obama referred to as “food deserts” with a $400 million a year “Healthy Food Financing Initiative,” which will bring grocery stores to low-income neighborhoods and “help places like convenience stores carry healthier food options.”

Obama called for overhauling many federal laws and guidelines, including adding $10 billion over the next decade to “update” the Childhood Nutrition Act, which feeds 31 million children at school and would add funding to feed more children.

Then we have the obligatory and soon to be ubiquitous mention of the health care costs of personal decisions. I've pointed this out numerous times, but control of your personal decisions is the primary goal of the ideologues who desire a government takeover of health care. Once your actions (like consuming trans-fats) can be shown to potentially create a direct expense to your fellow citizens, food-Nazi laws like the ones currently gaining traction in New York and California can be made national. And that's just the tip of the camel's nose into a slippery slope or something.

The business community knows it; this will ultimately result in costly changes to product lines and generous gifts to the causes favored by those who have the power to crush them. Don't believe me? Just look at how quickly the soda industry bent over and grabbed its ankles in response today...

Ya know, that info is already on the back of the label, what makes anyone think that moving it to the front is going to do any good?
