CITGO Prepares To Re-tool Its Image . . . Again

Venezuela-owned CITGO is preparing yet another effort to polish a corporate image seriously tarnished by its association with anti-American dictator Hugo Chavez. A major polling organization is surveying consumer attitudes and measuring the impact of CITGO’s ongoing campaigns which are coming up short as many Americans vote with their tires and buy gas elsewhere.

If I’m running out of gas in front of a Citgo, I will take my gas can and walk to the next station even if it’s miles away.

I won’t give Hugo Chavez one cent.

1. Buy the company from Venezuela interests.

2. Change the name back to Cities Service. I have never liked the name Citgo all these years.

I’m glad that the mini-mart in the town we summer vacation in has dropped the Citgo brand, so we can patronize them again

I am signed up with Zogby to answer poll questions. Last night I received a poll to fill out. It started out as questions about convenience stores, but immediately changed to questions about gasoline companies.

The questions started as general questions about many obscure gas companies. It became more specific as the poll continued. The third from last questions were about foreign ownership of gas companies.

I identified B-P as foreign and Citgo also. A number of others, I said I was not sure. The last questions were about Citgo, asking if I was aware of their charity oil.

O said I was aware, but would not buy Citgo gas as long as Hugo Chavez was the dictator of Venezuela. If you would like to sign up with Zogby, click on the following link: Zogby Poll

Thanks, oldtimer2 — that is the poll I was referring to. It will be interesting to see if Zogby publishes any results. I suspect there will be quite a few comments, like yours, concerning Chavez. Citgo is mistaken if it thinks that it is suffering from an anti-foreign-ownership bias; I patronize both BP and Shell (which don’t import gas from the Arabian Gulf) but would walk home in a blizzard before buying a nickle’s worth of CITGO gas. Read my lips, CITGO guys: it is a bias against supporting anti-American socialist lunatics.

Free oil for low income people but no bonus payments for the employees making the profits.
