Why Is Obama's Religious Adviser Trashing Catholicism?
The Lid/CNS NEWS ^ | 2/3/2010 | The Lid

On March 17, 2009 two weeks before his appointment to President's Advisory Council on Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships,Harry Knox published a statement on the Human Rights Campaign Web site in reaction to Pope Benedict XVI’s remarks concerning condoms and AIDS in Africa. The statement partly reads: “The Pope’s statement that condoms don’t help control the spread of HIV, but rather condoms increase infection rates, is hurting people in the name of Jesus. …The pope’s rejection of scientifically proven prevention methods is forcing Catholics in Africa to choose between their faith and the health of their entire community. Jesus was about helping the marginalized and downtrodden, not harming them further.”

Agree or disagree with the Pope's stance on condoms, that statement was justifiably offensive to Catholics. Especially when you consider that Papal Infallibility is a basic tenet of Catholicism.

It was surprising that someone who had such harsh views about the leader of a major world religion would be appointed to the President's religious advisory council.

Because His Holiness does not believe in secular, Jesus-less, secular “Christianity”.

Because he is a radical, militant homosexual, homosexual advocate and religious bigot. His appointment to the Faith-Based Council was and is a joke....more of Jack Squat’s antics of appointing porgressive radicals and militants into positions they have no business being in the first place.

Jack Squat is doing his best to frak this country up beyond recognition as part of his ongoing “Fundamentally Change America” campaign.

Catholicism must be neutralized and/or destroyed as a prerequisite for establishing Socialism. The Catholic Church played an important role in defeating USSR. You cannot be a genuine Catholic and a Communist at the same time. They are diametrically opposed because Communism seeks to replace God with State.

He despises the four strict constructionists on the Supreme Court, three of whom, I believe, our devout Catholics: Alito, Thomas and Scalia.

ObaMao prefers CINO's like Sotomayer who profess Catholicism with their lips but worship at the altar of big government with their deeds.

I presume the fourth is Justice Roberts. He's Catholic, too.

For the irony-impaired, here’s facts on how abstinence slashes the incidence of AIDS:

Uganda has experienced the greatest decline in HIV of any country in the world. Ten years ago, 1991-2000, HIV infection rates in Uganda declined from about 15 percent to 5 percent. Among pregnant women in the capita, Kampala, HIV prevalence dropped from about 30 percent to 10 percent. Similar declines have continued until the present. How did Uganda do it?

The crucial factor was a national campaign against sexual behaviors that spread disease. Beginning in the mid-1980s, the Ugandan government, working with church and community organizations, delivered an ABC prevention message: (A) Abstain from sex until marriage, (B) Be faithful to your spouse, or (C) use Condoms if abstinence and fidelity are not practiced.

The link between Uganda's "ABC" approach and the dramatic reduction in the country's HIV/AIDS rate is clear. Uganda did it. All Africa could do it. The United States --- if we had the intelligence --- could do it as well.

Senior Harvard AIDS Prevention Researcher Edward Green, who describes himself as a liberal, says that science backs the pope’s message.

“We just cannot find an association between more condom use and lower HIV-reduction rates” in Africa, Green told the Catholic News Agency in March 2009. The news agency further reported: “According to Green, the Catholic Church should continue to ‘do what it is already doing,’ avoid ‘arguing about the diameter of viruses’ and cite scientific evidence in connection with scripture and moral theology.”

Nobody is dying as a result of heeding the pope's message, which is both moral decency and medical common sense.

The same percentage, alas, as American voters at large.

Imagine that! Changing your behavior, has positive results! Who’da thunk it!

Also, Orthodoxy played its part in the collapse of communism too. My sources say that while Kruschev did convert on his eeath bed, Stalin passed still shaking his fist at God.

I would guess that Stalin is finding eternity to be a rather long time.

Right.Listening to this atheist lecture the Pope about Christ is almost as nauseating as listening to Patches Kennedy (Moron-RI) lecture the Archbishop of Providence on Church teachings.
