Can everyone just relax and let Brown first take office before looking for ways to tear him down?

Yes, many of us from outside the state contributed to his campaign and helped him win. However, we must accept that his job now is to represent the people of Massachusetts, not the rest of us.

If he does his job well and listens to his constituents, he will not likely vote as we would wish all of the time. His state is historically very liberal, and if he votes as a moderate/conservative, we must accept that he is still a great improvement over his predecessor.

Were Brown taking national office, not representing one particular state, he might be beholden to us. But he’s not, so can we just let the federal system work and give the guy a break?

The people of Massachusetts spoke. I hope he represents them well, convinces them that a more conservative path is best for their state, and can get himself re-elected in two years. He has his work cut out for him, and he doesn’t need brickbats from us.

Give the guy a chance.

“Give the guy a chance.”

He hasn’t even been sworn in and he’s already losing his base.

I have to commend you on a very common sense post. I have to agree with Scott. It was a lot of people who helped get him elected. Yes, tea party activists were involved, but, not solely.

I hope the tea partiers aren’t turning into a “if you don’t give us credit, we’ll turn on you,” bunch.

He’s a vast improvement over Kennedy and far better than Coakley. Enjoy your win Mr. Brown. You deserved it.

Good post. I'm so tired of the whiners complaining about Scott Brown. He hasn't been seated yet, he hasn't voted, and he hasn't had an opportunity to do or say anything in the Senate, and some are already ripping him apart.

Of course he needs to thank all those who contributed to his campaign.  I'm one of those that contributed, along with thousands of others who helped him win.  Not just with monetary contributions, but time and effort, including the hard work of many in the tea party movement.

The attitude of some on FR is to always tear apart those who we are counting on to work for us and work with us. Scott Brown has promised to vote against the current versions of the healthcare bill, and now that he has won the malcontents can't stop trashing him for every little issue they stumble upon.

I guess Scott Brown will enjoy the same kind of negative attention that Sarah Palin has suffered on FR.

OK, but you could say the exact same words about all RINOs. What’s the difference and why did we care before and not now?

oh, fer Pete’s sake .. don’t get reasonable. It’s more fun to build them up, then to tear them down.

It is safe to say that Brown was on a winning trajectory before the Tea Party jumped on board. They were helpful, no doubt. But full credit? I don’t think so.

Give the guy a chance.

I live in MA, and I agree completely! He's about as conservative as we are ever going to get for a National office. The only other conservative we had in recent memory got to Congress in 1994, after Joe Early was caught up in the kiting scandal backlash. One of Early's Congressional Aides ran against him in 1996, and won, and that was that for conservatives in our Congressional delegation.

Voters in MA will be watching Scott over the next couple of years, and they'll decide if he stays or goes. It is my fervent hope, though, that we won't still be living in MA when he comes up for re-election. ;o)
