Earlier this week, President Barack Obama was roundly criticized -- especially by those on the right, including yours truly -- for relying upon a teleprompter while speaking at an elementary school. That's why, no one was surprised to see he didn't use a teleprompter while addressing members of the House Republican Caucus in Baltimore late this morning. They were, however, stumped by a visual aide he used -- and television cameras seemed to miss -- that's depicted in the artist's rendition above.

Sounds like cue cards. Our Country is headed by Conan O’Brian.
I’ve seen some situations where there is a video screen/monitor at the back of the room that speakers use instead of up-close teleprompters.
Cue Cards are called Idiot Cards by the staff on a set.
