Perry Carries (I Love Our Gov)
moi ^

Posted on 01/23/2010 6:30:05 PM PST by AnnaZ

Well I had the privilege to chitchat a bit with the Governor last evening... he had just returned from the shooting range with a bunch of bloggers (around for the Perry Blogger Summit [pdf]) and supporters where he had fired his own weapon that he personally carries (paraphrase: "I know I have a bunch of guys around, but if something goes down I'm gonna be in on the action").

We also discussed (along with Robbie Cooper of urbangrounds.com) Texas's lack of open-carry freedoms (the Governor personally has nothing against it, 'though prefers concealed carry "I don't want the bad guys to know"), and the recent BATFE fishing expedition at a local gun show.

Yet another nail in the "things are bigger in Texas" myth.

Incidentally, my Dad carries a .380 as well. I carry a 10mm. Can't always count on a "perfect" shot in a "OMGWTFBBQ" situation.

But there is a fatigue one develops, from the endless cultural battle, isolation that “diversity” brings, price inflation, all that.

No doubt. There was a lot that I loved, and I lived in L.A. longer than I'd ever lived in one place before, but it tended to give me the vibe that I could wake up on a random morning to find that the city was burning. I used to call Angelenos "inmates".

Governor Rick Perry Says Texas Could Secede from the U.S.

Yeah.... that sounds like part of Perry's Grand Texas Privatization Plan....
Give up American Statehood and citizenship and become a permanent indentured servant to Cintra-Zachry.

/sarcasm

Gov. Perry has several different models that he owns and carries.

On this day he was carrying a Ruger LCP .380 with laser sights. Nice, powerful, little sub-compact, but the trigger pull was much too long for my taste (yes, the Gov. invited me into his alley, handed me his locked and loaded weapon and invited me to squeeze some rounds off downrange).

His security guy was going nuts -— about 12 local-yocals with loaded handguns mere feet from the Governor. Hell, when Perry handed me his loaded Ruger I was less than a foot from him holding HIS loaded live weapon.

Not 2 other governors in America would have done this event the way Perry did.

This is the first time I've ever heard the word "powerful" used to describe a .380.

Sounds like he's comfortable with RKBA. I'd always liked that about him.

Still doesn't change the fact that on a number of other issues he's a "weathervane". Finger in the political wind to see which way he should twist.

He's no Palin, but at least he's not a Pawlenty. ;-)

Spot on. We’re effectively screwed in this election, once again.

I'll vote Medina. She is kooky, but not Ron Paul kooky.

Well, actually, she is Ron Paul kooky when it comes to the Constitution and personal freedoms. That's kookiness I can support.

I trust ‘Rick with a P’ about as far as I can throw him.

My fear is that this guy is eyeing POTUS, he must be stopped. He’s all about power and he will turn into whatever he thinks can get him there.

What choice do we have?

Medina ad:

“Who is going to think more about Latino families? Rick Perry, Kay Bailey Hutchison or me, who has a Latino family?” (Medina’s cultural heritage is German and Bohemian.)

She told a colleague last month in an e-mail. “Being married, however, to someone with a Mexican American heritage, I certainly embrace the culture.” But before she explained that, she told my colleage, who had asked her whether she considers herself Latina: “I’d not consider myself anything other than a wife and mother, a nurse and a patriot. I believe we too often get into race when it’s immaterial.”

No, Thanks, Mrs Medina.

She is also running Spanish ads. Hello Mrs.Medina! If they cannot speak English then they have no business voting IMO. When they learn English then let them vote. Assimilate. Learn English. Appreciate all America gives you.

So I’m sure she is blowing a lot of hot air just like Obama did just to get elected. Running those ads and saying what she has, tells me the border issue is just a try to get votes for herself.

No, thanks, I’ll stick with ‘ol RINO Perry. Texas has remained in better shape than almost any if not all of the states in the union under Perry's watch. As someone said, 'he's the devil we know'.

The motly crew running for governor is laughable; a MUSLIM, a trecherous RINO woman* (Hutchison) and a woman with questionable loyalties

*Feds Have Built Only 32 Miles of 700 Mile Double-Border Fence Originally Mandated by Congress “One reason DHS has been able to do this is an amendment that Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R.-Texas) slipped into an omnibus appropriations bill that Congress passed on December 18, 2007. Hutchison’s amendment put a loophole in the fence law that allowed the secretary of Homeland Security not to build the fence Congress had mandated the year before.”
