Cindy McCain, wife of Arizona senator and 2008 Republican presidential candidate John McCain, posed for a photo posted on a website supporting same-sex marriage Wednesday.
McCain can be seen on the NO H8 Campaign's website with her mouth taped shut, and "No H8" written across her cheek.
She's the latest advocate of what the campaign calls "Redefining Republican" - removing the stigma of opposition to same-sex marriage from the Republican Party's platform.
With the photo, McCain joins her daughter Meghan in support of same-sex marriage, while her husband remains aligned against her on the issue.
David Frantz, president of the Penn State College Republicans, said that he thinks the McCain family "shows the diversity of the Republican party."
Not all chapters of the organization across the country agree with Frantz. Meghan McCain is slated to speak at George Washington University for Marriage Equality Week, and the university's College Republican chapter has voiced disapproval that she plans to speak In support of same-sex marriage.
But Frantz said that if a situation arose where a McCain (either mother or daughter) gave a similar speech at Penn State, he would have no issue supporting it.
"I think that as a party, we have bigger issues to face," Frantz (senior-political science) said.
Through it all, McCain the senator's stance hasn't changed. A spokeswoman said Thursday that he "respects that views of members of his family" but "his opposition to gay marriage remains the same."
You just KNOW that Jonhnny boy feels the same way his wife and daughter do about the perverts.
Diversity shouldn’t make me cringe but when used by the left, it does.
That explains why he hangs out with Grahamnesty.
Since he’s a supporter of amnesty one can assume that he supports all the other touchy-feely crap.
Could we get some of that tape for McQueeg’s mouth?
I’m sick of the whole damn clan, no matter what they believe/think.
Palin should refuse to touch him with a 10-foot pole. Besides, Arizonians deserve better than a squirmy RINO as their senator.
What kind of logic or brainwashing is used to make these idiots, and apparently western society in general, believe that “diversity” is a good thing, or a worthwhile goal to be pursued? Where is the proof? Can you come up with even one example of where “diversity” is a strength?
Diversity is just another way of tearing down what was once a strong Western/Capitalist culture. I’ll give the communists an A+ for creativity and the effectiveness of this form of attack. But I am not falling for it. People need to wake up and publicly reject “diversity” and “multiculturalism” as the poisons that they are.
Palin should steer clear of McCain but she may feel that she owes him. I think that’s called between a rock and a hard place.
These college so-called republicans keep calling me asking me for money. They trot out some tape with a recording from Newt Gingrich and try to get me to listen to it. Every time I tell them what they can do with Newt and ask them never to call again. They called me last week and tried to explain how helpful Newt was in Massachusetts. They and the rest of their RINO buddies need to hit up Cindy and Megan McCain for money because no one else buys what they’re selling.
This is actually a signal from John McCain. He’s letting the gays know that it’s an election year so he has to make conservative statements, but be patient with him those around him will once again influence him after he’s re-elected.
He does this every re-election. I wonder how he plans to spin it if 0bama pushes for amnesty this year.
On a computer network, if all the computer systems run the same software with the same vulnerabilities, it's far easier to root all of them or bring all of them down.
That said, diversity without some form of unity (or in the jargon of computing, "interoperability") is worthless.
She owes him NOTHING — he owes her.
McCain pretended to be a born-again conservative while soliciting Sarah Palin's endorsement, because JD Hayworth was polling 50/50 against him.
Sarah tells Glenn Beck, "look at how conservative McCain has been in recent months," letting the public know McCain will get her support. McCain gets a sizable boost in polling against Hayworth.
As soon as McCain secures Palin's public support, he, his wife, and daughter immediately go very public with a whole string of publicity stunts and announcements that are patently offensive to 100% of Sarah Palin's supporters.
Sarah is stuck with her endorsement based on McCain's return to conservative principles, which was never for a minute sincere. Sarah's fans are stunned and disappointed, doubtful about what the hell she really stands for.
This is classic McCain backstabbing at its very worst. Sarah needs to clarify if she is with or against McCain on all these leftist schemes, or if she was misled by McCain. Otherwise, she is going to lose the trust of half her supporters.
Why in the world should she feel she owes him anything. Half the voters voted for Mclame because of Sarah.
Because he picked her.Admittedly it was the ONLY thing he did for her.
I just love you computer guys! It's the reason that when I get those "messages" on my screen in most cases I have no idea what the hell it means! That being said, I agree with your point of "some form of unity" and in the case of a nation it is the language and culture. We must protect that. We need a better "firewall"!
LOL! talk about your bad timing. If I never saw one member of this family again it would be too soon. I will work my butt off this year to help defeat him.
