McCain chose her because he knew the voters who would respond to her were the only shot he had at beating Obama. If he hadn't been so second-guessing and controlling after picking her he would have stood an even better chance of winning since it was she who called Obama out on his lack of experience and the ridiculousness of his "organizing" as a basis for being president. I'm not arguing that McCain's instincts weren't right. I'm only saying that to deny that his choosing her is what made her nationally-known is retarded.

There’s no doubt you are correct. I had heard of her before the nomination, but the vast majority of folks didn’t have a clue who Sarah Palin was UNTIL Juan McPain nominated her.
