White House Trying to Re-Ignite War On Fox News
The Lid/The Hill ^ | 1/19/10 | The Lid

Back in October, the Obama administration set image of the presidency back at least fifty by taking on Fox News and losing. It started with then White House communications director Anita Dunn saying that Fox is "opinion journalism masquerading as news." Patting rival networks on the head for their authenticity (White House code meaning in the Tank for Obama), David Axelrod declared Fox "not really a news station." And Chief of Staff Emanuel told the other networks not to follow Fox.

It all ended when the White House tried to exclude Fox from an interview with pay czar Kenneth Feinberg and the "press pool." The press pool is made up of the 5 major news organizations including CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX. FOX has been a member of the White House press pool since 1997. Officials invited the entire press corps to the round robin interview process with the express exception of FOX News. The Washington Bureau Chiefs of all of the 5 major networks consulted. In a rare show of journalistic integrity, the group agreed that if FOX were not allowed to participate, that they would boycott the interview with Feinberg in protest.

After that, the President dropped the Fox News fight which was damaging his reputation. Or so we thought. It seems the White House is declaring the smack-down they received in the Fox Wars as "Just a Flesh Wound." According to a report in The Hill, President Obama wants to re-start his game of "Wag The Fox."

MSNBC’s Olbermann: “in Scott Brown we have an irresponsible, homophobic, racist, reactionary, ex-nude-model, teabagging supporter of violence against woman and against politicians with whom he disagrees.”

He has no idea how many Dem voters he just insulted.

If Obama and Co. are that stupid to go after Fox News again, then I can only cite this timeless story.

HOW MR. RABBIT WAS TOO SHARP FOR MR. FOX

I can just see Obama with his golf shoes up on the desk of the oval office, eating an ice cream cone and musing out loud thinking to himself.

If it wasn’t for Fox News, conservative bloggers, Tea Party radicals, right winged Democrats, Senior Citizens, most of our foreign allies and impatient left wingers, I could get my agenda put into law and be just like my best pal Hugo Chavez a life time Dictator of the US.

What? You ask if I forgot the Republican Party? HeHe, they are the least of my worries. I can manipulate them easily enough don’t worry.

The idea that the other networks stuck up for Fox is laughable. They realized that whatever is done to Fox, can be done to them down the road.

ARE. YOU. SERIOUS?

This man has just about every other outlet, kissing his arse, from the network Alphabets to cable Alphabets to newspapers, magazines, college professors, teachers unions and others. ONE ... count that ... ONE news organization dares to report both sides of the issues and isn’t fawning breathlessly over him and he’s ready to go postal on that ONE dissenting news organization?

I can’t find the words to describe this man.

every President has his war

Clinton had the VRWC and the Balkans

Bush had al Qaeda, Iraq and the Taliban

Now Jug-ears has FOX News and Tea Partiers. He has met the enemy and it is we the people!

Yes, but from the looks of things, bammy is getting his ass handed to him. Geez, will we start hearing about how “dumb” this pres—ent is? Just wondering. You rack up a string of failures and pretty soon someone might notice. Granted, the press seems to have missed this story so far. I wonder why?

If Brown wins, watch for some of the blame to be put on FOX.

I'd say some of the credit should go to FOX. You only blame people for undesirable results.

These idiots fail to mention the two NBC commies olberman and that carpet-chewing maddow freak.

Your comment reminded me of what I saw on cable news channels on Christmas Eve, or Christmas Day, I believe it was. On Fox News, in between the news segments, they had a number of their broadcasters and family members celebrating Christmas, the spirit of Christmas, etc. It was nice, family-oriented, informational, upbeat, etc. I flipped over to PMSNBC and all during the day-time hours, they were showing documentaries on serial killers. Over on CNN, it was the usual solemn-faced, PC'd, noses-above-the-fray phoney newscasters....dry, boring, all the usual anti-"what's good about America" crowd. The differences between the three could not have been any more stark than what I observed that day.

>”I’d say some of the credit should go to FOX. You only blame people for undesirable results.”

I was implying that the White House would try to lay some blame for the defeat of Marcia Coakly at Fox’s feet.

Glenn Beck on his first anniversary show tonight had the video of this quote of the new WH propaganda minister agreeing with Anita Dunn. It is chilling for the WH to define what is and what is not a “legitimate” (”traditional”, “real”, “bonafide”, etc) news organization. The other media should jump them on this!

It is unconstitutional for the WH to be saying these things. The WH has no First Amendment rights. Only the “press” (media) do.

Yep, that's why they stuck up for Fox.

IMO it's stupid for the WH to do such a thing, not chilling. I, however, get your point.

The WH has no First Amendment rights. Only the “press” (media) do.
Your understanding is so fundamentally wrong it's chilling.
The press aren't the only ones to have 1st Amend. rights. The 1st Amend. was, first and foremost, to ensure that everyone, not just the press, were ensured of the right to speak freely about the government without the fear of intimidation, coercion or incarceration.

Sorry about the correction, but it was, IMO, very necessary.

Geez - I wish Obama would take the war on terrorism half as seriously as he does the war on Fox and/or the war on Rush.

Maybe Obama sees FOX as more of an enemy then AlQaeda...
