If you didn't read Paul Krugman's Op-Ed in the NY Times yesterday, you missed a real treat, it has to be one of the top ten most idiotic things written by someone with a MIT PHD. Krugman used his superior intellect to analyze the source of Barack Obama's political problems. What did this PHD come up with? Was it that Obama's programs are unpopular? He is governing from the extreme left after running as a moderate? Concentrating on cap and trade and healthcare instead of the economy? Nope, the NY Times writer says the real source of Obama's political problems is that he didn't spend enough time blaming George Bush:
....I disagree. The Obama administration’s troubles are the result not of excessive ambition, but of policy and political misjudgments. The stimulus was too small; policy toward the banks wasn’t tough enough; and Mr. Obama didn’t do what Ronald Reagan, who also faced a poor economy early in his administration, did — namely, shelter himself from criticism with a narrative that placed the blame on previous administrations.
Obviously Krugman hasn't heard many of Obama's speeches. If I had a dollar for every time Obama blamed something of George Bush, I would be able to make a dent in the federal deficit (well maybe the deficit before Obama took office).

It’s good to hear because it indicates their compass is screwed up and will only lead them to further defeat.

??? The stimulus is 2/3 UNSPENT! How can we tell if it was too large or too small if it hasn’t stimulated anything yet?!? Let’s not forget it was to be “timely, targeted and TEMPORARY”. Instead it’s a multi-year slush fund that’s been horribly misapplied so far.
The “stimulus” alone is enough to generate plenty of antipathy towards 0. What’s the cost been per job created? Over $100,000?

Um, yeah. Meaning the banks have had hundreds of billions in zero interest loans to do with whatever they please. Great job again, 0 and your cadre of “financial geniuses”.

What the hey?!? Every time 0 opens his piehole he’s complaining about “the mistakes of the previous administration”. Trouble is, the most stupid things he’s done have all been his own idea. So, he will have to live with this pronouncement that “the buck stops here”.
In addition to all of the above, there’s the complete disconnect with America over both 0care and Cap’n’Tax. His continued pursuit of both of those government-designed white elephants is nothing short of monumentally stupid. So much for the “smartest President ever”!
All in all, 0 deserves every bit of pain he’s experiencing. He’ll be very lucky if it’s not much, much worse by the time he’s ousted in 2012. =:-D
There are a collection of NYTimes that end up on the credenza in the lobby of our co-op each morning. I usually grab someone’s paper after I return from my morning run, and see if there is anything silly to get a laugh from, and today’s Krugman article lit up the score board.
Basically, his solution to too much Socialism is even more Socialism. Fantastic, the growing policy disaster is great for the GOP, but sadly, terrible for the USA. Would it were the reverse.
We don’t need Obama to prove Socialism is a disaster. For the past 65 years the rest of the world has been depending upon the USA to buy their output AND provide their defense, which we have been able to do because of our capitalist and democratic system, AND the fine spirit of the American People, and unfortunately, simultaneously subsidizing Eurpoe’s Socialist foolishness. IF we go Socialist, who then will retain the economic ability to buy their output and provide for their defense? Nobody. And, for that matter, who will buy our output and provide for our defense? Yup. Nobody.
You thought the first half of the 20th Century was pretty miserable? Wait and see how the first half of the 21st Century spools up.

Yeah, the One claimed he had all the answers as to how to fix this ailing country before he was elected. Now that none of his brilliant strategies have worked out, the only thing he has left is to blame Bush for all our problems
Paul Krugman’s Nobel Prize for Economics is worth about as much as Obama’s -—
$1.98, or the melt value, whichever is greater.
